Yep, that's it.. Atomiswave is mainstream. It's not the successor to the Neo after all. It's too mainstream for us. We can't play it anymore.

I saw Sports Shooting USA (I know, a dumb sports shooting game) at Wal*Mart today. I think it's kind of a good thing. The smooth, slick look and playability of arcade games are coming back with Atomiswave. Maybe there's hope after all. I even would have played it if I had a few quarters on me.

here's a pic:

LOL, my local Wal Mart has the shooting game, but it's in a converted cab :) I wish they had Rumble Fish instead :(

I wouldn't be caught dead in a Wally World. I'll locate one somewhere else..especially if its becoming "mainstream". ;)

those gay ass shooting games are everywhere, there are some atomiswave ones at sports bars here (rednecks love it), and they have the turkey shooting one at my college. i don't exactly call that atomiswave being a hit though. those games are about as lame as goldentee golf.

You consider that MAINSTREAM? I agree with DashK and say that they definitely are everywhere you go. The Wal-Mart I went to located in Ingleside (Texas), I'm pretty sure had Strikers 1945 III, now that is amazing.

What's a Wal-Mart?

I found this thread interesting as at the time of my posting, the topic directly above it was "How to save the arcade scene" or something to that effect.
The way to do this, in my opinion, is to get out there and show your face. Show the people that you're still alive. Even if this means in the most illogical of places.
What if someone finds an Atomiswave at a Wal-Mart with Guilty Gear? They'll probably get hooked, maybe research the game, learn about Sammy, and then indirectly learn about SNK. Maybe, then, that person will then end up on here and contribute something kickass to the scene.

Or maybe they'll waste $25 trying to shoot a polygonal turkey and never think about it again. :crying:

I have seen Neo-Geo's at Wal-Mart before. Mostly a long time ago.

Though a couple years back, I did stop at a Wal-Mart way out in the middle of nowhere (okay, maybe Kingsville isn't exactly "middle of nowhere", but close enough...) when I was driving back from Austin. They had a 2-slot there with Strikers 1945 Plus and.... Shock Troopers. Oh my fucking god, that blew me away. So of course I just had to play it and leave a score behind there. ;)

I wonder if it's still there.

The distribution of Sega's Dreamcast ended about two years ago, I believe. ;)
