If these are really close to their arcade counterparts - and there's no reason why they shouldn't be, given the state of technology - then I'll probalby give 'em a try.

Agreed, the Namco version was very decent, but most of the games were not as good as the originals.

IIRC these are the NES ports on these JAKKS games (save for the Atari one). Bootleg NES's are probably only $5 to make so it's cheap. But no it's not the arcade versions, I'm sure.

NES ports or not, I'll definately pick one of these up. My buddies and I play the shit outta the Namco one...I can still see the Pac Man board when I close my eyes.
Jakks should develop a 2 player co-op version, throw in some Gauntlet, or maybe a Konami Contra/Super C unit. That would be teh :buttrock: .

Bummer. I was looking forward to Sidearms however if memory serves me right, there wasn't a NES release of that game...

I could be totally wrong guys, I've been known to be a bunch. I could swear I read that somewhere but maybe I remember it wrong. Maybe someone should see if it's right or my memory is just buggered.

I'm wondering if you just have to use a normal stick for Super Sprint. I'd pay big money to have a version of Championship or Super Sprint with a wheel you could spin the ^$$%# out of, like the arcade. Like a boat or something.

Good luck getting arcade perfect ports of these with the all-in-one joystick they'll probably ship with it. Let's see, for these games, you'll need:

- MK, Rampage, Joust, Defender 1 stick and 5 buttons
- Spy Hunter, Super Sprint, Paperboy A wheel/or handlebar and/or pedals
- Robotron & Smash TV Need two sticks
- Marble Madness Need a trackball

Nope, this won't turn out so good. :oh_no:

No, the NES ports that you are talking about are on those "illegal" powerjoys, which are made by a different company.

Jakks Pacific does the emulation in-house, but unfortunately their emulation is flawed, at least with the Namco version of TV games.

True, but there was a Turbo Grafx 16 release of Side Arms. ;)

Yep and it was the main reason I had a TG16. The music remix wasn't all that good but the game play was a perfect port of the arcade version ;)

That d-pad looks as uncomfortable as fuck.

If they're also doing plug-and-play Capcom games, I wish they'd get ambitious and do a Pro Gear plug-and-play game.

I hope the rumor in EGM is true about Capcom soon jumping on the retro bandwagon and putting out some killer compilations like Midway. That bullshit with the old Namco Museums and Capcom Generations won't cut it though...there needs to be at least 20 games per disc, like the Arcade Treasures.

These plug n play toys dont cut it for me.

the only prob with those plug and plays, save maybe the atari stick ones, the controllers are cheap as fuck and not that comfortable. that MK one looks like a joke, but hey at least they got the button layout right..... but no 2 player?

I'd like to see Capcom do a compliation disc with stuff like Final Fight, Mercs, Knights of the Round, SF, SF2 (all the variations), Saturday Night Slam Masters, etc.

Ghouls N Ghosts
Forgotten Worlds

1943
Street Fighter II/'/Hyper
Mercs
Saturday Night Slam Masters
Captain Commando
Bionic Commando

That would be a kick-ass start.
