These days I'm heavily into:
KoF97
KoF2k1
SFZ2
Samsho 3
RBFF
DoA3
Star Gladiator 2
AoF3
FF:WA
I had some kind of revelation with DoA3. Shortly after the game came out for Xbox, I bought an official Tecmo mook (Future Press) about it, skimmed through it, put it on the shelf and decidet to give it a go come weekend, but for some reason I just kept playing other fighters and couldn't get myself into some DoA training.
A few days later when we were playing DoA3 again, I mentioned the mook and showed it to one of my buddies, he wanted to lend it out, I said ok and that was that.
Fast-forward two weeks: My buddy Gerd came around, handed me the mook and said: Now let's play DoA! Okay, I bootet the game while my friend was sitting there with a strange grin on his face... half an hour later, he already had a 10-0 win streak, and I really couldn't believe my eyes. He countered almost every attack, counter-threw all my reversals and pulled off combos left and right, but not only those simple 3-hit chains but monstrous juggles and combo throws! I couldn't do shit against his setups and throws at first, then I slowly got the grip with my man Zack but he still was fucking hard to beat, no matter which chara he chose.
As you could imagine, I had a bit of homework to do now. I didn't take the game serious at first because it's 3D, but after a while, I found that it has TONS of depth and is mega fun if both players know their shit. High-level (well, more or less eh) DoA3 can be really beautiful... trouble is that some charas have abuseable normals and specials, combine that with the reversal cheese and you know how 80% of all DoA3 matches look like: Punch -> Punch -> Kick, wait a little, reversal, reversal, Punch -> Punch -> Kick, reversal, reversal... etc... this gets boring very quick and prolly is the reason why some ppl don't like the game.
