ok, so I picked up Hyper SF2 today at the local import shop...its been a while since I've played the game (funny since I have Collection on the saturn). I forgot how fuggin cheep the computer is. "Charge characters? What charge characters?" The computer sez as it counters your every move with an endless wave of sonic booms or flash kicks from the walking animation... :very_ang:

Still love the game though. All the extras are kick ass, and the Arrange soundtrack from the 3D0 version brings back memories of playing the game on the 3D0 back in the day. The arrange tracks really help to bring out the best in the game. Cool though how you can switch between the 3 soundtracks (CPS1, CPS2, Arrange). Good stuff. :buttrock:

I think he means the new PS2 game that lets you mix and match different versions of the characters from all the SF2 games. Err, unless I'm missing what everyone is talking about. Where am I?

Computer AI is always cheap in every 2D fighter I've played. One reason why I generally detest the genre (with a few notable exception). I don't think I've ever seen a fighter that had the CPU opponent behave anything like a real person would.

How much you pay for the PS2 version? Did that actually get a release in America?

It's coming in August as part of a 2 for 1 deal called Street Fighter Collection, which encompasses Hyper SF2 and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike

Fuck August, I want it now. Why the fuck does it take ages for Capcom USA to get us 2D fighters. The same delay was present in the DC days as well.

Advantage: Agassi.

I've always thought that the AI on Sam Sho 2 was really good. Give that one a try if you haven't yet.

Charge characters never behave like charge characters in ANY 2-D fighter.

Anyone witness to a CPU Guile in SVC:Chaos can attest to this.

I own the MVS cart. I'd agree it is better than most, most of the time the computer doesn't pull off a dozen HCF+A+B+C moves every .3 seconds like some other games.

Samurai Shodown II is one of those rare 2D fighters I don't dislike. I almost never play it, but once in a while it can be fun.

I heard that a version Capcom vs. Snk 2 for DC has saved AI from actual players.

I wonder how that works - since you'll react slightly different each time you face a character?

I don't really know, I've never played that version. I may pick it up though since I got rid a the GC today with my copy of CvS2 EO.

Actually, I don't remember Kim ever breaking rules of his possibility to charge, from the CPU. Oddly enough, Guile is usually the out of the norm. Isn't it funny how Blanka never cheesed you like Guile does? My absolute favorites were the walk directly towards you for a few steps then instant sonic boom or flip kick. Charge? what charge? Oh, and the Bison(Vega JPN) constant fast charge move goodness.

One of the things I never saw ported to the PSX from the original Street Fighter 2 was the 'god' priority of Vega(Balrog JPN) jumping medium kick, and the infamous wall cheese by the CPU. In one case, try playing Blanka against the arcade version of Vega(Sf2) and see if any move he has can even remotely trade with the instant jumping medium he loves. In the other case, you get the CPU to hit you once and then he does the infinite invulnerability trick for the rest of the round until time goes out. The infinite invulnerability is the one where he jumps on the wall, jumps down (away from you) only to instantly go right back into his double backflip onto the wall again. Noting that he can't be hit during that whole time. If you were to do moves on him, projectiles and/or contact hits will all go through him.

That's a great idea. Take a variety of the average players of the world, measure things like reaction times and move speeds, things like that, then set it that way for average, and continue up to the expert players. Also, ENFORCE THE DAMN CHARGING RULES. Actually, personally, I dislike charge moves too.. But hey. One of the big improvements from Killer Instinct to 2/Gold was changing moves from charge moves to just hit the direction then the next.
