:help: :help: :help:

if anyone could toss me alittle help .. i could REALLY USE IT..

I just got a Mechinzed Attack SNK machine... ( Shooter game two guns ect )

and im having alot of probs..

real quick run down: :multi_co:

i thought machine was DOA ... Replaced the Monitor .. brand new.. replaced the Board from one on Ebay claiming to be " 100 % working " ... so i installed them both...

i hear the monitor kick in ( high pitch squeal )... no sound... on the speakers and no boot up ever happens... ... and .. cant test the board on another Arcade machine... as its not jamma....

i THINK the power supply is bad. :annoyed:
(the other power supply in the bottom with big burn marks tipped me off )

so i took a Meter to the power supply ..... and from what i can see .. the power supply is giving out the wrong numbers ... ( not that i am very good with a meter in the first place )

so the question is.... although i hear the monitor Power up.. is the power supply good ?

maybe not enough voltage ? ...

if so.. WHAT type of Power supply should i get as a replacement ..for Mechinized Attack ???? i DO NOT have the manual... and theres now TWO broken Power supplys in the bottom of the machine... so i really cant trust either of them...

Someone please help me...

if at the very least im hoping one of you can point me in the right direction as far as which Power supply to buy as a replacement ..

or if anyone is a TRUE SNK guru.. hopefully help me Trouble shoot this alittle...

:help: anyone have any sites with any TECH info on this game ?! :help:

any reaccuring problems with this line of machine ?!

as always ANY and all help would be great.....and DEFIANTLY most welcome.... :crying:

I might suggest contacting member Supergun. He has a lot of experience with that type of stuff as he is an operator.

Also, doing a doing a Google for "Mechanized Attack Manual," I came up with the following link of one For Sale for only $10. They even had a Board for sale too for $45.

These guys actually have a Mech Attack, so maybe they could confirm your power supply questions.

I bumped into Supergun on AIM. He goes by CHADOKADA on AIM:

CHADOKADA: first off, he needs to do two things to confirm if the power supply and/or monitor works.
CHADOKADA: but if he does not know how to use a meter properly, that could make it harder to help him.
CHADOKADA: tell him to turn the potentiometer marked "SCREEN" (usually located on the bottom of the flyback transformer directly under the "FOCUS" pot) completely clockwise.
RyoGeo: ok
CHADOKADA: with this done, and the game now turned on, wether or not his board and/or power supply works, he WILL get an image (white screen with lines) IF his monitor works.
RyoGeo: Ah, good tip.
CHADOKADA: this will help us determine step one: does the montior work.
RyoGeo: Eliminate one variable.
CHADOKADA: then, for step 2, to determine if his power supply works, he needs to be told how to use his meter properly.
CHADOKADA: black lead on GROUND and red lead on +5 VOLTS
CHADOKADA: if he gest O volts, its dead. UNLESS of course there is NO AC (120 volts) going into the power supply.
CHADOKADA: also, another tip, always coin up the game and press start. if you hear game sounds, your board works. afterall, you dont need to SEE the game working to know if it is running.
CHADOKADA: once down to the testing point, disconnect the gun(s). sometimes wires inside them break or strip and cause intermittent contact which can short out the game board and power supply causing it to not work!

Hope some of that helps too.

ok here's what i found out ..

powered on - activated coin mech ... no sound...no change in status...

disconnected guns - no change

... checked monitor on another Cabinet... - Monitor Works 100 %...

... so heres what we now know...

Monitor: working
Speakers: Unknown
Board: Unknown - ( supposed to be 100 % working Status ).
Power Supply: Unknown..

so heres what im going to do...
:eye: Order a Brand new pair of speakers from Happ controls...
:eye: Order a new power Supply..

After replacing both speakers AND the power supply.. everything in the cab will be brand new Except the board and the guns.. therefore leaving only those two at possible fault..

  ONLY ONE PROB !!!

there are TWO dead power supplys in the bottom of the machine... one burnt..with no coverings... and the other attached now... leaving me without knowing what the real Voltage / amps for the power supply is ...

here is my hypothesis...( i could be wrong ) but this is an Educated guess..

The original Power Supply went bad... a dim witted Service tech .. or someone with no arcade knowledge attempted to replace it with a standard / improper voltage Power supply...

soo... all i have to do now if find out the Correct Voltage for the power supply... and im off and running...
:help: :help: anyone got any Clues ?! or any idea where i might be able to find that info.. :help: :help:

SIDE NOTE: i talked with "Nightmare Tony" .. he helped out quite a bit as far as the Power supply issue was concerned... and other small ways...

very nice / cool guy.... although he said .. something about he couldnt log into the boards for some odd techincal reason ... hope thats worked out..

any way .. thank you for everyones help..

i went out and bought a 15 amp power supply ... i hear that should do the trick..
i'll keep you all updated..

This game doesn't have any special requirements as far as power goes: +5V and +12V which is what all arcade PSUs have...
