Are they making the difficulty level in the arcades easy to lure more people to play?

Well, I was in the mall and decided to play GGXX. You know how the arcade scenes are these days. Anyway, I was the only one playing in the whole arcade so I play GGXX. Mind you I HAVE HARDLY EVER played the game and when I do play I play at home and not the arcade. Anyway I just played and figured out the moves and made my quarter go a long way. I remember back in the day like 10 years ago when you played at the arcade and a quarter got you to the second level; it was like they put the difficulty really hard. Now it's like I think they try to make more people play by making the games easier so people will spend more money. Plus I remember back then when the hot games caused like 2 tokens/quarters. Now GGXX in this arcade I went to, which for all intents and purposes is a hot game, only costs a quarter. What do you think? I think arades are losing money so they put their games on the easier difficulty to attract gamers.

it depends on the game at our arcade, the soul calibur 2 machine here is a joke, i can beat the game on one game and the final boss is easier than the first guy it seems, vf4 evolution is the same deal. but the SvC machine is a nightmare, the 3rd guy WHOOPS your ass, even if you get passed him, i have NEVER beaten orochi iori on this machine (who is usually next). i think they must have the difficulty on max.

but i've known a few arcade ops, and they all used to tell me they put the machines on middle difficulty. if it's too hard people get pissed and won't wanna play that machine anymore (except the dumb ones who will spend whatever it takes to beat the game), and if it's too easy you don't make any money cause people will beat the game on a couple quarters and never play again...

I spoke with one op who used to introduce a machine at a low difficulty and ramp the level up as the regulars got to be better.

Most arcade owners will leave the difficulty on the default level. The quicker they can get the machine up and running, the better. The only thing I've really noticed them change is how many coins it costs to play. Usually, nowadays, that number is now 2 quarters for one game..with very little exception.

Someone mentioned the difficulty on SVC: Chaos. You might be surprised to know that it, too, is set to default difficulty, or level 4. Even on level one, the fights are very tough. I, too, dread having to fight Riot of the Blood Iori. Please be Violent Ken..crap.

On the SNK cabs I've played on in local bars and pool halls the difficulty was either 4 or 6. I just remember it was a slow nite at one bar I was play KOF98 on level six and was beating the shit out the game on 1 credit, and my bro was watching and said the bar tender was looking in my direction as I got visibly excited :p Too bad I got pwn3d by Omega Rugal, but after that game I went on to play Puzzle Bobble and set the machine's high score :buttrock:

I always play my homecart on 4 or 5 and bosses are tough, but very beatable. There are patterns and you just have to be cheap. Projectile them to death.
