KOF 2001 unreadable options screen

I've just received a KOF 2001 MVS cart.

The game plays absolutely fine in MVS mode but I have problems with the options settings on AES mode (using unibios v1.2).

Basically, the menu screen is really hard to read and the options screen is completely blank.

I feel the cart may be suspect :(

The cart has a white case with a moulded arrow on it. Inside, the boards are clean but the top one has two socketed eproms. There are no SNK marking on the boards themselves but they do say "KOF01" on them.

No loose wires, dodgy soldering etc and one square chip has the SNK logo on. All the other chips are blank - no markings at all.

Any ideas guys?

Cheers

John.

blank

That is normal, apparently the aes screens were not done when the mvs was released....

Hm that is normal, but your cart still sounds kinda suspect. Could you get any board pics?

Sites going crazy again..

KOF01.jpg

Like mine if you can see the pics..the soldering is factory with two socket-ed EPROMS...
In an old thread it was stated to be original..Though I did have to cut(shave) some of the inside of the casing(near the vents) to get the cart to close right without pressing on the boards...The EPROMS are to high and the case pressed to much on the top board.(stupidly made)

From the outside you could never tell I shaved some of the insides of the case.
...I totally forgot until I just opened the cart.

(Black case with white label..)

Chris,

I had to shave my KOF 2001 cart as well...

It worked fine in my MV1, MV1-c and 2 slot... wouldn't work in a phantom unless i squeesed the cart while running....

Wierd....

I also wonder if you can swap the EP1 & EP2 For the CHTD 2002 roms.... WOuld be really cool...
