Man I went to his show last night and I have to reinterate that Prince is probably the greatest all around musician of all time.

Noone else can mix so many different genres of music together and sound 1/2 as good as he can.

The show was a work of art, it opened up with an introduction from Ashante (I think) from when he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame which then led to a collage of songs mostly lasting a minute to a minute and ahalf each, and then was a rollercoaster from there.

The drummer definitley earned his paycheck and a few others last night.

Highlights of the show were the intro, a bad ass acoustic set, the drummer, a saxophone solo of "What a Wonderful World," the drummer some more, "Soul Man," and the last song of the night "Purple Rain."

Overall I would recommend ANYONE to catch this show when it is nearby, even if you aren't a fan of the man...you will be by the time it's over.

He's tied with Hendrix as my fave.

He only played a few songs form Musicology (which was given out free with every admission)

The most obscure songs were:

That Sinead O'Connor song "Nothing Compares"
"Soul Man"
The Saxophone solo to "What a Wonderful World"
also when intrducing all the band members they played a theme song and both the Flintstones and Transformers were played so that rocked. :buttrock:

The acoustic version of "Little Red Corvette" was different for that type of song.

Hmmm Little red corvette, acoustic.....i dont like the sound of that, tho i guess it could be ok.

Nothing Compares 2 U is a Prince song originally, its just she had a hit with it......now Transformers + Prince....I could die that sounds like something id dream it cant possibly be true :tickled:

I demand some Batman live, never happen :emb:

When I heard the Transformers theme my fiancee looked over at me and said don't yell.

Prince is one amazing artist. Purple Rain is still a badass album.
And how many other artists out there make music that both rocks and makes your girlfriend wanna drop her panties and start teh fuckin'? Not many.

If I had known, I would have seen the show in Phoenix...oh well. :eye:

Well considering it is his final tour, he might extend it. Regardless the production value on the screen was so good that I believe they are recording the tour for a DVD which I will be getting.

I went to his COncert in AZ. Not a bad concert, but he only played a couple of his old songs. He did a weird 1 minute mix of When Doves Cry. I just wish he would of stuck to some of his old hits more then only a couple.

Yea he did a huge collage at the beginning and I hated that When Doves Cry only got a minute long part of the show....that is probably my favorite Prince song.

I guess I thought he would play more of his old hits. Maybe it's crazy but his new stuff is good, but I want his old stuff more to be played instead of a song here and there. I guess getting that is not gonna happen. I wanted to hear Little Red Corvette, no such luck at all :-(

Does anybody know the name of that slow song he played, where he was in the robe outfit talking how he wants to seduce the woman and be all sexy to her? I think it's a newer one.

He did an acoustic set of Little Red Corvette at the show down here.

He didn't play that song at our show nor did he don a robe but that would have been pimp.

Most of his set was old songs and only played a few off of Musicology at the show I went to. As far as his new shit, IMO he is finally back to being "Prince" and is going out on a damn good note with this CD.
