OK, first off, I asked this question a few months ago, but got the information wrong.. way wrong.. here is the real thing that is for sale:

1: NeoGeo MVS 1-Slot Cabinet
2: 5 MVS Games
a: Magician Lord
b: World Heroes
c: Ninja Commando
d: Puzzle Bobble
e: Art of Fighting

The price for all this was set at $500.00 and I was asked if I would be interested in it.

I told him that I would get back to him within the next few days.

Now my question is this:
"Is it worth $500.00???"

I looked at the system and it seems to be in good condition, and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the monitor either.

Also, if I were to get this, would it be possible to upgrade it from a 1-slot system to a 4 slot if I found a 4-slot board? I know very little about arcade systems, so I am asking for honest thoughts and/or suggestions here.

If the price is too high.. what would be the going rate for this package?
I know everyone says that if you can buy local, it is the way to go since you don't have to pay the high shipping charges, but with the shipping charges knocked out of the equation... is the package really worth $500.00 or more or less? I would hate to lose money if it really isn't worth it, and could save my money for a different time when I find a better deal on a better package.

Thanks in advance,

Trû

Also, are there any adapters out there that would allow AES games to be played on a MVS system? I ask only because somehow I came across a Blue's Journey AES game and no AES system to use it on... but do plan on getting one one of these days...

It up to you

I think $500 is not a bad price with games included. What type of shipping charges are we talking. Also what are you going to use the machine for? (I'm guessing private). How often are you planning to buy & play games? (You can buy some MVS carts at great prices). Really comes down to how much is the hobby worth to you.

Good luck with your choice :glee:

Is the Cabinet Dedicated or a Conversion...?

For me..(IMO)

If the cab is Dedicated in working/Nice condition,Good monitor,Memory card reader..(Not trashed) then I'd buy it for $500.00..
And you could change it to a 4 slot with a little work and...... change of marquee..

I like to see what I'm buying in person especially when it comes to cabs..
If it looks nice after a good looking over then I buy it..after trying to haggle the price a bit.. :glee:

Shipping cost is murder..
I never wanted to buy a cab having it "shipped" to me..One reason why it took me so long to get my Big Red.
No cabs were being offered in my area within pick-up distance that were worth buying.

What do you do after you take the cab home after it has been shipped to you,and it doesn't work..
I mean that nightmare has to be a real....( ..)

Do you pack it up and ship it back..?I just can't imagine going through this..

Pick up is the only option for me..I picked all 5 of my machines in person..

So when I want a cab I have to find it within pick-up distance..I go check it out and if it not what was said to be I pass.
Providing the seller doesn't take the lowest price I offer..
Things can be fixed..I enjoy fixing up Arcade machines..

I'd also take into account how many offers like this are available..
If machines aren't very available in your area and you want one I'd consider it.

Though I'd haggle a Conversion down to $300.00.

$500 seems high to me since you could probly find a dedicated 2 or maybe 4 slot somehwere for that price, no im not talking epay. while back i bought a 1 slot conversion for 125, but it only had 1 game.

The majority of arcade ops I know and I have ever dealt with generally sell real or conversion Red cabs anywhere from 350.00 to 500.00 in just about any condition motherboard and games or not. So I wouldnt say 500.00 is bad ,but its entirely upto you ... If you shop around you may find a better one cheaper or it could be more ? It really just depends on the person selling it. Some people are nutts and want way too much money for garbage while others seem like they are giving stuff away.

Just do youreself a favor and stay away from the guys who target collectors or you are guaranteed to pay way too much.

Shipping isnt really too bad considering it only costs about 250.00 form the east coast to the west coast and vice versa... To some that maybe alot, but when you consider what it is and what you are getting out of it I think its cheap and probably about right.

Any conversion = bah. What's the point? BTW, a candycab isn't considered a conversion, right? Cause I love those, and don't want to be a hypocrite. Stupid question, I know.

I'll also NEVER pay to ship a cab, when I do buy one it must be within reasonable pick-up distance (willing to drive 200 miles max).

There are several candy type cabinets out there as this is more or less a generic term for the tin Japanese sitdown cabinets, then there are the SNK SC cabs like mine ,which are indeed dedicated SNK MVS machines ,and of course the Neo labeled cabs that places like Arcade-Infinity sells are true dedicated SNK MVS/Hyper 64 cabs.

So the answer to youre question is no a real SNK candy is not considered a conversion but a non SNK candy would be.

Bye the way if you are in the SF bay area MVS cabs are usually a dime a dozen around here from most operators. The SC style Candies are extremely rare in the US ,but there seem to be plenty of the Neo branded cabs like the 29 around.
Incase you may be wondering my SC-19 came form the Tao brothers at arcade-infinity for a whole $235.00 and $82.00 to shipped home.

Is this a 19" or 25" monitor in this cab. If it's a dedicated 1-slot I'd assume the former. Either way, it isn't a dedicated 25" cab I'm betting, so I'd say the price is too high. I'd either talk the seller down or just pass.

Of course... you do live in Wisconsin. How numerous are Neo cabs there? I wouldn't imagine them being too abundant.

I wouldn't buy a 1slot and convert it...i'd just be a little more patient and wait to find that 4 slot, if thats the case. Most of the Cabs are designed a certain way and converting them just isn't always worth it. Besides you'd prolly pay more to convert it, after buying a 4 slot mobo and Marquee set-up anyways. Patience is the key. Stay away from conversions and be picky when your dealing w/ these guys. But don't let on your a collector, just a picky buyer. To answer your question: yes i think the price is a little high but still reasonable assuming its in Decent condition + the games. Good Luck w/ your search.
