Talk about the game in this thread.
What do you think its going to be like?
Seen the new screenshots?
Speculate on everything about it.

Here's what Nintendo has to say about the game:

"In this highly anticipated sequel to Metroid Prime, become the bounty hunter behind the visor once more and travel to a planet torn into light and darkness. Hunted by a mysterious entity and a warring race called the Ing, Samus Aran must explore the light and dark worlds of this doomed planet to discover secrets and augment her suit's weapons and abilities.

And now, for the first time in the history of the celebrated Metroid franchise, up to four players can battle each other as they search for weapons, grapple across ceilings, and turn into Morph Balls to make their escapes."

Personally, I think the whole light/dark thing is going to be like Pitch Black, as opposed to two seperate worlds, like Zelda: A LTTP

Too bad the multiplayer is the stupidest shit I've ever heard of.
Look how much geometry they had to sacrifice to get it to play at a decent frame rate.

Please...

Well, that's cool.
Since I'm 21 my parents don't allot me "one game per year"...unlike you.

So, I'll just buy both great games.

Ok Thanks Goodbye.

Really? I haven't read that much into it. That's too bad. You would think that now we're passed the days of Nintendo 64's Multiplayer aka A Trip to Foggy Town USA the game's wouldn't have to sacrifice so much to just get 4 PEOPLE on the same screen.

Sheesh.

Sheesh.

Its not definitive, just speculation. but look how drab the geometry is in the Multiplayer shots compared to Metroid Prime 1's levels...looks kind of sad to me.

Why bother? That's my question. Adding this feature (good or not, I don't want it) can only take away from the time spent working on the 1 player portion.

And I've gotta admit, I don't like the fact that this is coming out so soon after the first (soon by Metroid standards). I look at the Castlevania games for GBA... and worry that they'll fall into the same trap of banging out a no-frills world with no-frills gameplay...

Also, is the same guy back doing the music?

As they did with the first one, I hope Retro proves me wrong.

Knowing Nintendo they won't allow to much of the game to be sacrificed for multiplayer. But this does make me question the direction of the series. Is Nintendo finally caving into the endless multiplayer online gaming crap that is WAY overhyped. Not that I'm bashing online play I've been doing it for years on my PC. But the trueth be told online gaming is nowhere near as fun as it used to be. OK back to Metriod this is one of the few games that I was looking forward to this year and I really hope its as good as the first.

I'm also hoping that Nintendo doesn't whore out MP with the multiplayer garbage. It would be a nice bonus, but they shouldn't spend too much time on it. After all, there hasn't been a bad, or even a mediocre Metroid title yet, and they've all followed basically the same formula. A little multiplayer bonus would be cool, just don't let the core Metroid gameplay suffer because of it.

Also, I think that using the lock on weapons like in MP1 would make for a shyte multiplayer experience. For the multiplayer it should be manual aiming only.

Man, Metroid would have enough trouble working as a 3d game, but as a First Person Shooter? What's Nintendo thinking!? None of the classic Metroid gameplay will survive, and this will just go down as one more classic needlessly revived and cashed-in on.

:mr_t:

Seriously, though, I highly anticipate both the one player and multiplayer game. The storyline sounds nice. Metroid Fusion about burnt me out on the kinds of storyline Metroid has had so far, and the idea of Samus herself being hunted by another race, as opposed to just adding a new "Phazon" or "X" flavor to the old storyline sounds great.

Hopefully, this title lives up to how cool it sounds. :)

Yeah, I'm also hoping the Light/Dark situation turns out to be literally darkness and light and not dark as in "bad" and light as in "good", I've had enough of that bullshit, I want to hunt monsters I can only hear and not see.

Multiplayer is worthless, I don't even see the point of it. Was Retro combing GameFAQs for fan reaction and ideas? Fucking please.

Yeah, I've always thought that darkness has been unfairly persecuted over the years. Darkness has feelings too, ya know :D.

I don't think it's a total waste, but if it takes away from the brilliant adventure-type gameplay that Metroid has always been famous for .... well, that will be suicide. Just keep it simple, and don't let it distract the developers from the core aspects of the Metroid franchise.
