At First I had never heard of this band before... Until I recently picked up "Good News for People who like Bad news". Its a very good cd.. Can anyone recommend any of their older albums?

I've been a fan for a loooong time, and it's great to hear the world finally catch up. Their new CD is really good.

Heard their single "Float On" or whatever on the radio. Wasn't bad. It's also not bad the fact that the FLips had a hand in making the album.

I love them.

The new Modest Mouse is a fantastic album... I got the earlier promo copy of it (with I've Got it All(Most) and a few other songs are different takes...) back in Feb and still went out and bought the CD in April ;) ... So yea... I like it a lot.

Anyway, as for other albums, a lot of people would recommend "The Moon & Antarctica", but I never could get into that album so I won't... "Lonesome Crowded West" and "This Is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About" are both fantastic albums and though none of them are quite like "Good News for People Who Like Bad News" they are solid MM albums. Again though, there is very little in their catalog anyone could consider bad ;) Great band.

The Moon and Antarctica is one of my favorite albums from them. I used to have one of their songs on my site. One of the coolest songs is All Nite Diner, and my all time favorite is Never Ending Math Equation. Modest Mouse is so awesome.

Also, if you like a little edgier music around the same level of quirkiness... I can't recommend the Dismemberment Plan enough. I'd stay away from "Emergency and I" at first (even though it is a great album) and start off with "!" or "The Dismemberment Plan is Terrified." "Change" and "Emergency and I" are great albums, but may turn off some people at first... The Plan has wowed me for years though (mostly fueled by their live shows, pity they are no more)...

And after the plan, I'd go on a limb and say get anything you can by Spoon... especially "Series of Sneaks" and "Girls Can Tell"... fantastic rock band...

Yeah I did. I think I showed them to Wasabi too. Lately I've been listening to Rooney (one of the first CD's in a long time where I actually enjoy every single song...they're locals in Los Angeles), and The Darkness' album Permission to Land.

I heard these guys on the way to work on the radio and I have to admit I was impressed. Remind me of experimental dada-rock bands like flaming lips or butthole surfers or king missle. Will have to pick up their CD soon.
