CAPTION: "Well-armored marines, and their well-armored dogs, supervising a checkpoint Wednesday near Falluja, Iraq. American troops surround the town."
(i don't know if its as funny as the dolphins the Navy was using in the early part of the invasion)

Okay, now I don't know if this restores any of my confidence in the situation:
CAPTION: "Members of a new security force, the Iraqi Civil Defense Corps, held weapons on Thursday that had been given to them by United States marines in anticipation of jointly patrolling Falluja with United States forces."

"All right, Akmed [Gomer], let's go shoot shit!"

"One for me, 3 for my insurgent buddies back at the village."

"So... which one of us is going to get disgruntled first and start using the guns on them?" (sort of like what Saddam did between 1979 and 1991

"These suckers are arming us!"

"Duuuuuude, Sweeeet!"

Well, if we're going to have fun with captions, we can't forget this awesome picture from that other thread I started:

voices.184.1.jpg

"Sure the country's shot to shit, but at least we got al-Brewskies."

[Incidently, yes the two Iraqis in the picture are drinking beers and eating potato chips on a bridge in Bagdad. Even more ironic, one's first name is Uday, and the other's last name is Hussein.]

The second picture makes me sad. Just imagine this population of young men from Iraq, with few or even no formation (just look at how the guy take the riffles to be sure that he has never used them), who will have to face well prepared terrorists organisations for the sake of the US politic. These guys will certainly be used in critical points to avoid US soldier deaths. They will be consider like traitors by the Irakies and wil never be considered by the US troops. I'm sad for them. Of course none of the Major TV broacast will show you this story this way.

You got all that from that picture??? Somebody's really reaching here .....

I don't believe that there is a proper way to carry 4 rifles dude - and carrying them like that doesn't necessarily make him untrained.

One of the first basic lessons that you receive when you use riffles is to always walk with the riffle pointed on the ground, even if it's uncharged, and never like on the picture.

I'm not a solider but I know that.

Yeah, that's the best way to do it, but if you remove the clips (which he did) and check the bolts, it's probably not that big of a deal in a situation like that. It's probably a bit more difficult to carry 4 rifles with the muzzles all facing down, I'd think - that's the only reason he's doing that.
