They claim that the slowdown is gone. Blasphemy I say slowdown is your friend.

Looks very positive. If people read the article they may go out and buy it.

"....However, where you could plunk in a quarter or two to continue from the spot you croaked in the arcade, for the Xbox version continues take you back to the start of the level..."

I think this will make it very difficult finishing the last level! :(

Edit:
Two things that came to my attention while watching the IGN movies.

1. The Xbox Versions seems to get red blood. Would be cool!

2. The speed of the game seems to be very fast. In fact, a little bit to fast.
I hope this is because of a bad video transfer by IGN.

Metal Slug 6? Guess they count X as 6 or something.

"There are 6 out, but were only getting 3"? They do realize 4 and 5 arent too hot right?

"it becomes clear how well developer Playmore has varied the gameplay. "

I'm surprised they even knew that 3 wasn't the last one.

Man, am I ever going to pwned with no continues :oh_no:

Hahahaha, they don't even known that SNK and Playmore are the same company!

Judging by the text, they give the impression that Playmore was a mere developer for SNK... :p

better start practicing. i wonder if after you die you can jump in with player two, then continue with player one. you'd have to let player two die, but on paper i think this will work (if there is a continue countdown)

I HATE Slowdown. And the only reason why i'd get MS2 is for the sake of completion. :)

I do not like it much either, but they could at least put in an original mode with the slowdown and the "enhanced" mode without.

Sort of like TSS on DC.

Yeah, I wouldn't sweat the red blood thing too hard. I've already seen a few pics that support the presence of teh red bludz. With no continues though, my xbox controller might be in for some low-altitude flying lessons :D.

 You said it, dude.
But it might like bendor said, where you could have player two jump in so that when you die, you get a continue prompt. Kinda like in the old 2P NES games, like Turtles 2. :D

What I said in other board:

attachment.php

"The arcade version of Metal Slug 3 isn't quite as pretty as the Xbox version, which offers sharper visuals and better contrast between the 2D sprite characters and the attractive hand-drawn backgrounds."

The most stupid, non-sense statement I've read about a bitmap graphics based game or a NG port. Ever.

In addition, that snapshot just reveals how pixelly and ugly a low res designed game looks in a hi res only system. And to make it even more evident, they changed the "status stuff at the top" for a true hi res one. What a tragicomedy. At least, the PS2 version filtered the whole thing to mask the uglyness.

"Though MS 3 is similar to the arcade, there are a few good additions. [...] and there are no quarters required to play (just $40 for the game)"

IGN at their best. And they get paid for writing things like this?

This game seems to be getting a ton of love from IGN, this is the 2nd or 3rd write up I've seen on it, and they said to look for more on it in the future.

I'll take Neo coverage from wherever I can get it :) - even IGN.

Videos from IGN are wicked...but to start at the beginning of the level if you die is harsh :p The internet rankings will be interesting :tickled:

Actually, the restart at the beginning is kind of nice(for continues), if you think about the whole idea of rescuing hostages. Sure, it hits hard to those who don't realize that this makes a nice convenient automatic way to go and try to rescue those hostages, this time. It's a good way to help those trying to go for point totals. These days, especially after being in a Metal Slug scoring competition at one of the Maryland neo-geo.com gatherings; I play Metal Slug particularly with the mindset of trying to finish each level with high scores and the most amount of hostages. Considering the scoring competition is brought to Live, this could be a very tough ranking to earn. (I just know some of the Metal Slug gurus, from here, will definitely have their scores up.)

I talk to Makaze from IGN from time to time, he is actually a big Neo-Geo fan. He has a AES and some carts, his wife also was one of the best KOF players in the US at one time. So don't knock on 'em too hard. ;)
