This sounds to be on about the same lines of, "It's illegal to overthrow the government by unconstitutional means."

If you overthrew it by doing so...would it matter? It's not like the old government could do anything about it...

I do know that's it's quite the crime to assist in suicide in most states. But, yeah, the same irony applies.

Attempts, yeap...they put'cha in the hospital, give ya' counciling and everything. But if you're successful, nope.....they call a doctor, a mortician, and a parson and have a little shin-dig down at the funeral home at the expense of the family.

Suicide in the UK, if I remember correctly, is not deemed illegal, as self murder is always considered irrational. The 'suicidee' is considered to have some degree of mental illness, and they are just as accountable as a mentally ill person killing someone else is.
This is all penchant on the perspective that suicide is a result of mental illness at all times, even though it does not account for ritual suicide such as sepuku. Such is brittish law. Its not that way in other countries though.
The legalality of suicide is related to medical theory, and to legal theory. If it where possible to determine that you where of sound mind and you where to kill yourself, you would be breaking the law, irrespective of the country you're in.
