Has a couple of screenshots - looks like they are using MS5 sprites.

Also says this (I bolded the cards part!).

"The Metal Slug series, wildly popular in game arcades, now appears in its original version for the Game Boy Advance™. Not only will it thrill with its peerless pixel action that makes the most of GBA's graphic capabilities, but it also delivers such series favorites as the Crossroad Entrances and a host of new features.

There are two new characters featured in the game; Walter and Taira. You can collect 100 Metal Slug Cards throughout the game which will affect your characters' status in some way. The levels are branching paths like the NGPC outings."

Whew ... thank goodness. I was beginning to think it'd never get released. Actually, I still won't be happy until I see a firm US release date, but I think there's a much better chance for that now.

I just sold my GBA SP too. Now whether to get the NES GBA SP or just a GB Player for the GC. Choices, choices....

Looks cool, but I'm a bit concerned about the life meter and lack of characters. Also, cards? Why does every GBA game have to have cards these days?

Why concerned about the life meter, worked great for the NGPC slugs, and the cards are actually in the game, not physical cards.

I never played the NGPC titles. Do you get three lives _and_ a lifebar?

Well, I'll use this as an excuse to get an NES edition SP, along with the whole Super Mario Advance collection (including the NES Series Super Mario Bros.), along with Sonic Advance 1,2,and 3, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance... and more! :buttrock:

Nope you only get one life. And notice there is not x3 or anything in the screenshot.

But you can get hit 3 times before you have to continue right?

Well in 1st Mission it actually had bars like this [][][] and each bar was one hit. There were 5 difficulty settings that only determined how many bars you got, Very Hard got you one [] Very Easy got you 5 [][][][][]

2nd Mission has a life bar like the Advance screen shows. But in that one each hit did different amounts of damage, for example a tank shell hurts more than a pistol shot. Also throughout 2nd Mission as you beat more levels your life bar increased.

Ahh well thats cool. I still need to play the NGPC slugs :(
