Are you a collector or do you own both for a reason?

I have a Neo Geo CD and Im having a hard time tracking down Mutation Natuion and Nam

Im thinking of getting an AES too get the games I cant find on CD and My Neo Geo CD will be for games that are too expensive on AES (I already have Slug 2 and I know thats expensive on AES)

That's pretty much the reasons right there. I think AES and MVS is a better combination though. The MVS carts are cheap, no load times, and all the newer games are available.

If you're in it just for gaming - then MVS is the only way to fly

I'm going to get "internet bullied" for asking this but is the whole MVS thing easy to do?

Can I just plug it into a tv and Im good to go? Is it like a console just uglier?

For hooking it up to a TV, you need a supergun. But you can also play MVS games via an arcade cabinet.

Well, if you get a consolized MVS unit then yes you can hook it up to your TV. Otherwise you need a super gun which will let you play PCBs and hook up an MVS unit to the super gun itself then go to teh TV.

MVS=cheap easy to get games. Dont know why I didn't do that in the first place...oh yeah, I didn't even know about it. :oh_no:

DAMN! Ya beat me to it Lets Gekiga In. BTW wheres teh old sig! Nooooo!

Yes, I’m a collector. However, I don’t really feel like I must own a CDZ and a frontloader as well. Owning both an AES and a CD system gives you a lot of flexibility. The CD versions are also much less expensive than the AES carts…Metal Slug being a good example.

I'd just get a consolized MVS unit, since you can get whoever makes it for you to put pretty much whatever kind of outputs you want (composite, S-vid, RGB, etc.), and you can just plug it straight into your tv/monitor/ or whatever. The supergun is more versatile (plays all JAMMA compatible arcade boards), but is in general a little unsightly.

I have both AES & CD systems.

The reason is that AES is good enough for fighting game but I'm tired of the "limited continue" thing :mad_2:

Plus CD version has better soundtrack plus few titles are only available on CD format.

Yes even when you have MVS and AES access it's still nice to have the CD version because of the beautiful soundtrack. Somedays I'm more patient and somedays I just can't wait for any loading too. =]

soundtrack .... yeah I've heard that from a few people. That's definitely a nice bonus of the NGCD system. I guess maybe I need them all :loco: :loco:.

I have a CDZ, a top loader, and AES. I have my CD systems because at the time I never had a chance to buy a cart system. I keep my CD systems because I actually built up a nice little collection of games and I don't feel like replacing them with the AES versions. Anyway, I like the bonus art galleries and arranged soundtracks that are on some of the games. Not to mention the composite video is WAY better and it has built in S-Video. I have the AES for newer games/games with poor load times on CD (*cough*LastBlade*cough*). I also have a Phantom, which saves me $$$

I looked at getting an NGCD at first, but the lack of newer games kept me from getting it (never experienced the load times). I got an AES, but couldn't get it to work with a Phantom-1, and the price of the AES games led me to sell it and get an MVS. With the MVS, you get all the games (well, almost), no load times, and reasonable prices. Even if you keep the NGCD, I'd go with an MVS, or get an AES that will work with a Phantom-1.

I have the two, the NGCD mainly for the arranged music and extra stuff.

And to play Samurai Spirits RPG - NGCD is too cheap here in Brazil.

Oddly enough, I am currently in the market for a Neo Geo CD system. I'm going to college in the fall, so I figure I could save some money and pick one up. Getting the older titles for CD seems worth it to me since they don't have as bad loading times and are less expensive. (Metal Slug being a good example.) I get the newer games on my AES, but I think I'm going to track down the older stuff for CD. I apologize for any typos, as I am up at my mom's for Mother's Day and I'm running on 28.8k for God's sake!

agree with liquid

i bought it for the arranged tracks and so i could play some of the more pricier games like overtop, ninja masters and neo turfmasters

and some games on the cd are better - neo turfmasters has a scottish course

if you are struggling to get nam/mutation nation the last game i had to get was world heroes and it was a fecking nightmare
