Search isn't working, else I wouldn't have posted a new thread.

Let's assume a 2-slot board since barring a great deal I doubt I want to pay for more slots and I definitely want to avoid the 1-slot issues with new games. How much should I expect to cough up to get my hands on one?

The price is directly proportional to the amount of LEDS on the system. The more LED'S the Mo' Money :D

But uh yeah, Chimp is pretty much right. You might be able to get a consolized one slot one cheaper then that, but maybe not.

yeah ... maybe, if you mod it yourself ...

Maybe you charge higher prices, but from what I have seen modded 2-slots sell in that area, not much higher. If I'm not correct, maybe you can offer a more accurate estimate? Or is that beneath your high standards?

I paid $500 for my consolized 2 slot from Robert Wallace, works quite nicely ;)

just thought you knew about kpj's prices.

and yes, i charge more (it's not that much more in the end), cause i don't see why i should get the same amount or even less, if i spend more money and time than others. eh ... and btw, one of my 2slots is $600 shipped (postage is about $35) and including paypal fees.

a 2 slot : about $200
a jrok encoder : about $80
a uni-bios : $25
a quality paintjob : some bottles of beer or up to $100 (depends on your connections and location)

+ wood, plastic ... for a baseplate
+ some kind of feet
+ 1x s-video socket
+ 3x rca jack
+ power switch
+ power inlet
+ a can of spraypaint
+ tools (yes, they even have to be replaced at times)
+ spacers
+ screws
+ glue
+ duct tape
+ wire
+ gas for getting to a hardware store or body shop

sums up ...

+ quite some time

also ... don't only take the lowest prices, cause you'll most likely have to pay more, if the needed parts are out of stock and nowhere else to be found.

bottom line : no one in his right mind would ever want to make a quality system just to sell it for the cost of parts and to see it going for more on ebay, after only a few months.

Or is that beneath your high standards?
see, i'd post a pic of a monkey with a very mature message attached to it, but ... i'm too tired ...

2nd hand + we've seen the pics = explaination for the price

don't get me wrong, the price was ok for what was offered. some systems are worth less and few (kenny's included) should be worth more.

Well thank you for that useful information. Based on your helpful input, I'll revise my estimate to $400 - $650, does this sound more accurate? I was just throwing out a quick range based on what I have seen but I can appreciate the cost and effort that goes into a consolized MVS, so I stand corrected.

Ohh yeah,

I was just trying to let him know that he can get one that cheap if he looks around. Of course, It's easier to get a nicer, new, quality and fully supported unit from you or kenny.

The thing people don't mention when they bitch about prices is the amount of cost that goes into purchasing quality tools.

Furthermore they fail to mention the amount of time it takes to learn how to do these units really well to make sure that they don't break in the hands of some end-user who doesn't know anything about soldering or whatnot.... If you send a unit out and a solderjoint breakes, then your SOL... It's not like someone doing it themselves... If a joint goes bad, then they can fix it themselves...

supply..

I do not see a power supply on that list Falk, they must be about $50 each if you include shipping and import duty....that makes the price even higher.....And a lot of work these do not take 5 minutes to make....

purpose, but you're right.

i never include one with ntsc systems, cause paying for postage, customs, tax and gls fees just to send it back would be stupid. imo.
