Games TM is a UK multiformat mag, the latest issue (18) includes a double page review of the arcade version.

It gives ift 3/10 "A lack of innovation results in disappointment". It places it as worse than SSIV but better than Kakuto Chojin.

"Only hardcore fans are likley to enjoy this and then the enjoyment will be short-lived."

The review is pretty fair enough. Of all the rehashed games, this was the worst for me. Sloppy.

3/10 ???

Coming from a UK reviewer it does't impress me.
It's totally natural that they give low scores. Specially if they're mainstreamers.

It seems obvious that they have reviewed the game based on its innovation (which is pretty sparse, admittedly). I don't think that's quite fair though. You certianly also have to consider the fact that the core of the game is done pretty well.

Havent game mags allways given 2d fight games a low score and complained about all of them being ripoffs of streetfighter 2? Most game mags are into the latest crap like Unreal or other 3d bs I don´t like anyway.

/That's probably unfair. GamesTM are a bastion of 2d and NeoGeo, regardless of genre and style they gave the game a fair review. The score was a little harsh, but the text was accurate.

I don't wanna sound rude by saying that. Never !! :)
All I think is that they generaly give low values to great games even if they're masterpieces.

It's not a complain, it's a fact.

They only give high scores to Zelda's, Mario's, Gran Turismo's...

Isn't this true ?

Back in time ( about 10 years or more ) I remember myself buying british and french mags ( CVG for the former and Joystick for the later ).

CVG gave a 70%'ish score to Mutation Nation while the french reviewer gave it a 92% score.

OK OK ! Everybody knows this game blows hardballs now, but back then it was impressive. There's a huge gap between two mags.

The numbers at the end are for the idiots that don't know how to read anyway ;)

The review like Baseley said is very accurate, I agree with most, of it. I would've given in a higher number score but that doesn't so much matter as the content of the review.
