Neo Geo AES Controllers, Are there Options?

I would like to use a standard (possible) Playstatoin Controller on my Neo Geo. The main questions I have is, are there any other controllers that can be used with the Neo Geo AES besides the Standard Arcade Stick and Neo CD Pad?

I'm hoping to find a regular controller that has a standard cross pad :tickled:

It is also possible to mod (almost) any existing controller for any console to work with the neo geo, you only need some skills.

we certainly have our moments.

But hey, if you decide to drop those tiny handheld controllers someday and want to go hardcore, you can check out this website MAS Systems , and get yourself one of these babies:

How's the mapping for the buttons ?

X = A
0 = B
►= C
/\ = D

Is it configurable ?

Eh?

speaking from a complete lack of experience, but I'm going to throw my $0.02 in anyway.

Let me get this straight you want to do away with the neo sticks, which are possibly the greatest arcade sticks ever made (second only to the DC sticks) in favour of the rather shit Playstation pads with their blister inducing dpads. You must be a nutter.

Each to their own I suppose....

You could search for a review of it in these boards. If I remember well, the button configuration was NOT what you wrote. And no, it's not configurable. I guess it would be possible to mod the adaptor itself to change this configuration for the 4 face buttons.

If it isn't configurable or mapped like I said, I don't think it's worthy.
The Neo Geo configuration has always been that one. Obviously a converter that doesn't make it right away possible can't be a good thing at all.

Thank god you can at least remap the buttons on KOF games.

Fine, a MMJ mini review :buttrock:

The device is a little purple box, it does look a bit out of place beside your neo but I guess you won't be looking at the thing when playing games.

The buttons are laid out as so

Select - Select
Start - Start
Triangle - C
Square - A
X - B
O - D

You can program it to use turbofire on A,B,C,D by pressing down R1 then pressing A,B,C or D and letting go. Then when you press R2 it will autofire that button. Being honest I'm not that happy with the button layout but at least most beat em ups allow you to change it in game, and for metal slug the current layout of buttons is fine but for long combo's you'd as always be better off with a real stick. The other top buttons L1 and L2 toggle slow motion off and on (i.e press pause lot's of times and will piss you off in many games if used).

But, I guess this convertor does do it's job and is very cheap. Just it looks and feels it too.

7/10
