Did I get ripped off?

I just bought Kizuna Encounter from a "friend" for $85. It's a loose MVS cart in gamer quality. It looks like the previous owner (the person my friend bought it from) took off the original JPN label and replaced it w/a laser copy that's written in english. I know it's a JPN cart because the warning sticker is written in JPN. I was too excited about buying the cart that I didn't look it over until I got home. Did I get taken or is Kizuna really that hard to find?

I'd say you got ripped off! The Jap version of Kizuna Encounter in gamers condition and a non-original label is only worth about $20 to $25. The US version is worth much more than the Jap version. The fact that the label has been replaced kills the value...a collector wouldn't touch it. Sorry!

Not really. A Kizuna in any condition can get $50. Many japanese Kizuna's have replaced labels and not many people care. As far as collector value, sure it hurts.

But remember, the MVS Price Guide is about a year out of date. How often do you see a Kizuna bare cart for sale?

You gotta understand that the kizuna's chips are what make it worth at least $50.

Savage rein AES +print materials= $125
FIgure in 3 hours conversion time @ $20/hour= $60
Since Kizuna conversions go for around $250, that leaves you with about $75 for the MVS cart.

When I posted my last MVS Gamer Kizuna, I had 4 offers around $50 in the first 2 hours.

Besides, "serious" collectors should be worrying about getting JP Aes Kizuna Carts, not the condition of MVS labels/carts/

I don't think it was too high at all

You might have only over paid a little bit

but I was hunting this down at one time and saw the JPN Kizuna go to the 75 price point

I've never even seen a complete kit for sale

I have seen a couple in the last two years. Most of them sold for $350+

I would not give over $50 for the cart. Considering the condition it’s not worth 85 +. The game is not really all that rare on MVS. It’s not as rare as Pleasure Goal (US) or Ragnagard (US). There are far fewer MVS collectors than there are AES collectors….I’m talking about the hardcore collectors. Personally I am picky about condition and I would not pay 50 or more for a Kizuna that’s in poor condition. This game has received a lot of hype lately with the recent sell of an AES copy.

Not rare on MVS? The japanese version not so much, but not easy. The US/English version is damn near impossible to find complete and even in decent condition. There's one for sale at the moment for 375 Euro (about $450-500) in good condition. The english version is FAR rarer than either Ragnagard or Pleasure Goal.

I've been considering selling my loose Kizuna relabeled cart for a while. I think I'll run an "auction" in the Selling forum to see how much it goes for. Thoughts?

50-55 is the going rate for what you have depending upon how bad you wanted the game. If you wanted it really bad,it's worth whatever you paid for it. i sold two copies before for 50 apiece.
The game is waaaaaaaaaaay overrated.
I mean,it's a cool button masher to add to the library but nothing spectacular.

After playing it for an hour I agree. $85 maybe. $12,000? Never.

There are a few serious MVS collectors that only want complete kits!!! I never said that there are a lot of them.
