Hey fellas, I was at the Kalamazoo auction today, Just wondered who was there.

I saw a dude with a black SNK shirt, I'd be willing to bet he's on these boards.

They had some sweet games, but nothing to write home about, but there were some good deals being had. Irritating Maze, 3 MVS single slot cabs, Bubble Bobble or Puzzle Bobble slot machine. I thought it was kind of amusing that they had this huge row of those little Jap slot machines, and all these rednecks were lusting over them like they were the missing link. After they auctioned the slot machines they auctioned the tokens for them at 100 for 10bucks a bag(which isn't bad if you're in the business of slots), the "necks" were buying up like 20 and 30 bags..

Anyways, If you saw a fat mofo buying a VS. Castlevania and a Street Fighter Zero cab, that was me....

I was the guy with the SNK shirt :buttrock:
I was obsessing over that Irritating maze cab most of the time. That thing was so fucking cool; it was great to get to see one in person.

I wrote down prices for all of the SNK and capcom stuff that was there. I also got a ton of great pics of the Irriitating maze cab and a few of each of the conversions as well. I won't be able to post them for a few days though since the camera accidentally went back to lansing with my friend. I'll post them as soon as I get them.

So you're the guy that got that Street Fighter Zero cab with the Xmen: CotA marquee? That was a great deal. I can't believe it went so cheap. That Castlevania cab was really nice too. You have good taste ;)

I didn't get anything myself (didn't plan too, just went for the ambiance this time) but my friend I went with picked up a couple. He got the Twister Pinball which is really cool and also the dedicated Mappy cab in descent condition for only $150.

Yeah, I hate the slot machines too. I always go out and chill in the car or just walk around outside when they start. I seriously don't know what the obsession is with those things. I mean, it would be cool to have one but not for the price they sell at. Some of those go for like $300, it's rediculous.
I've always found the bidding on tokens funny. Last time a dude bought like 5,000 of em.

Sale prices for SNK and Cap cabs
-Irritating Maze (dedicated) $475
-1 slot conversion (I think it was a Centauri) with World Heroes $200
-1 slot conversion (don't know what it was, but it was a very, very nice cab) with Slug 1 $225
-1 slot conversion (have no idea what it was) with Puzzle de Pon $325

-Street Fighter II CE (wouldn't boot up) sold for $110 but the guy ran out of his room in his truck so he put it up for sale again and it went for $40... haha
-Xmen Vs. Street Fighter $325
-Xmen Vs. Street Fighter sold for $225 and was then resold later for $325 (The same guy bought both cabs, go figure)
-Street Fighter Zero in a cab with Xmen:CotA art $150 (nice steal ViceMikey!)

The Irritating maze was really cool, but other than that, the last auction was much better for neo stuff. There were 2 dedicated neos last time and more cabs in general. All in all a great time though. I stayed the whole time so I'm tired as hell but I can't wait for the next one!

Yeah I was there hanging around Firebomber most of the time. As he mentioned, I got the Twister pinball machine (actually it's my mom's, but she let me do the bidding on it) and the dedicated Mappy that works for $150. I wanted one of the frogger cabs that didn't work. The first one was only $50, but the coin door was not the right one and the cab in general was in shitty shape. The second one went to high IMHO for something not working. I decided to bid on the Mappy but never thought i'd get it, especially when I saw it did work afterall. Imagine my surprise when I managed to snag it

I'll tell you what, It wasn't a huge auction, but there were some serious deals to be had, That dedicated mappy for 150?? WOW! that's a cool piece..a little bit of work and that thing will be a very cool showpiece..Anyways, Next time we gotta hook up, I went to this auction with my pops cuz he was looking for pinballs, but his cheap ass figured they'd go for too much...
June 12 i'll be at the one in Columbus, if you guys are going down let me know.. I might be bringing a trailer with me, so i can help haul shit back up for ya if you need..

If there was even the remotest chance of picking up a Metal Slug slot machine, I'd be there sooo fast. Unfortunately, I doubt that'll happen. :(

Go anyway for free games, one of the best ways to spend a saturday in my opinion.

There weren't any Slug ones at this auction but there was a puzzle bobble one so you never know. They had a ton of japanese slots so I definately wouldn't rule it out.

I'll definately agree with that. I had a blast and I wasn't even planning on buying anything. All you need to take is an extension cord to power up what you want to play and it's endless fun. Tons of people to meet and talk to. Tons of classics to oogle at. Auctioneers and noobs to make fun of. It's always a great experience.

To be honest I thought the IR cab would go for a lot more. It's a pretty rare cab and relatively new as well. I guess people there just didn't appreciate it ;)
That Mappy is a neat cab. I'm glad SGG got it so now I can play it for free. It wasn't a great auction for neos but in general there was a lot of really good stuff going for cheap. Not as good as the last one in kzoo but definately not a bad day.
Don't know if I'll be able to make it to the Columbus one for sure. If I can get work off I might be able to.

Just as a note that Metal Slug Pachislot is very new, I'd be amazed to see one over here already, though you never know.

I agree,A Metal Slug Pachislot is very new..Too new to be at Arcade auction..

But..
Japanese slot machines are only supposed to be in service for 2-3 yrs before they are taken out of an establishment..or new components have to be installed.(as I read/heard)
People I figure......figure them out etc.

So if it's true on the 2-3 yr in service thing..You may find them at auction soon..
They just need to be imported here/then a Power Supply put in plus converted to only take tokens.
The price of them being sold in Japan has to be cheap for an Imported to make any money, thus usually going to an online selling company.

Though..I never bought a Slot machine at auction.I've looked at them..I guess I'd be that ("necks") :D ..Most of the time they are pretty trashed if not outside/inside..and I've seen them sell super cheap..
You really have to own one to enjoy them..
They are always a attention getter whenever I have family and friends over.

Slot machines are very sophisticated inside..Way more difficult to fix then an Arcade machine.

I'd only buy a slot machine for my personal use from an online/offline company that gives a Warranty like I have for my machines..(my machines are Mint)

If you buy one of these machines cheap and it messes up/breaks..your pretty much f.....

If I paid a very cheap price at auction for a decent looking/working one and it conked out then I'd have to take the loss or seek someone to fix it..

Some of the people buying these are running illegal gambling places...in their basement/back room of a Bar etc..

So,buying tokens/machines for cheap is a sweet deal for them..In most states your not allowed to have and money winnings with slot machines if your not a Legal Casino owner etc./Gambling License.
Slots sold at auction and at Ebay sites are supposed to be for Amusement only..Token to Token only..But people change them back to accept coins or they use the Tokens as a money chip.
Machines are changed to ..Token to Coin coming out..Coin in to Token coming out etc..
The people you see hording over them are probably just that..

But,if they make thousands off of a few machines it's a piss in a bucket to them..They buy the machine cheap and the tokens..
Online..New tokens are around $45.00 for 500 plus shipping...(They can be used for Arcade machines too.)

My Slot machines have big stickers on the sides saying Amusement only..

If you talk personally to a Slot Machine Seller they'll tell you all about the illegal crap that goes on..

The Slot Machine seller I bought my Samurai Shodown Slot machine from was very surprised that I wasn't buying the machine for gambling purposes..I guess he was so used to being asked...
He had big Signs on the Wall.."Slot machines are for Amusement only"

I know how you feel about MK2. Yeah, that's a pic of the basement. I got this cab from a guy in Yipsilanti. It was converted to UMK3, but I had the mk2 pcb and marquee so I sold the UMK3 stuff from it and made it back to an mk2. The control panel overlay you see is newly applied. I also put on some new red t-molding. Good luck finding one.

As a side note, the auctioneer mentioned a guy was coming with a bunch of games but he wouldn't be there in time for the auction. He was supposed to arrive an hr and a half after the auction was over. One of the games was an MK. I wonder if it was a dedicated?

Here's my 150 score :mr_t:

Besides a few of the lights being burn out, the cab was perfect. Played really well and the air blast thing was really cool.
