Well, I finally decided to put my collection picture up. Many of you have probably wondered why I put my games in shock boxes. The reason why is because I was tired of getting games in busted cases. So I decided to put them in new mint shock boxes. I will admit that they do look strange at first but they are not so bad once you get used to them. I don’t consider my collection great by any means. It is really just plain average with nothing that really stands out. There are a number of games that I would like to have but I can’t justify their high prices at this given time. Perhaps one day I will be able to afford them. I would like to hear your thoughts about my collection and if you have any suggestions on ways to make it better. Thanks for your time.

ya know what, who cares. it means he probably plays his games instead of obsessing over collectibility.

In the end everyone pretty much decides what to do with their games no? :eye: :eye:

yeah, of course. i just think it's stupid to give him crap over stuff like this - it's his collection, and he can do with it what he wants.

I don't really want to sell my original cases. I may need them just in case I need to sell my games. I figured that Too Short would piss on my collection. It just goes to show you that he is nothing but a serious shit. I don't go around pissing on other's collections so I think that it was very rude of him to do so. For those who asked, I think that I dropped about $12,000 on all of that stuff. Yes I know it is freaked but I don't really care about the value of the games themselves, I just want to play them - that is all. They look fine enough to me and that is what is most important. I just wanted to share what I had with others.

You, sir, are a prime candidate for the MVS side of the Neo·Geo. For the most part, it's all about the games and, as an added bonus, prices are significantly cheaper. Could've saved you a few bucks here or there. :p

All in all, you really do have a very nice arrangement, there: an aesthetically pleasing display without the worry of damaging any original packaging.

Kudos to you-dos. :buttrock:

Yes, you see when you use shock boxes for your AES games, you don't have to worry about messing up your original cases. If you use a snap-lock case too many times, the snap-lock may break off. You would be in a real pickle then. Also, snap-lock cases mess up the top and bottom of your insert. Take a look at some older snap-lock games and you will see that the top and bottom of the insert will be dented in somewhat. You don't have to worry about that happening with a shock box. Since the shock box is bigger than the snap-lock or old-style case, the insert is completely protected from the elements. The only thing that you have to worry about is sunfading which won't be a problem as long as you keep the game out of direct sunlight.

I have been thinking about getting a SuperGun for a while now. I might end up getting one - one of these days. I have put it off because I really like the look and feel of the home cartridges. Maybe one of these days I will have Kenny Boy build me a consolized MVS SuperGun. Only time will tell.

That's a butload of shockboxes...

Did you buy those in bulk? Because they're hard to come by today...

How many do you have?

So, did you put the original inserts in the shockboxes or print off inserts for them?

Do the snap lock and clamshell inserts fit in the shockboxes? I know the two are different sizes.

I wouldn't say that. It sounds to me that he's an even more intelligent collector by protecting his snaplock cases, since they do wear out after a certain amount of opening/closing (wash, rinse repeat). The concept of Protecting the original case and even copying the original insert, to protect the games in teh entirety is very intelligent. Kudos to you Makismo :buttrock:

Shock Boxes are bigger than the old-style and new-style case inserts. They will fit just fine and there is a lot of room at the top as you can see. Not so much room at the sides for an old-style case insert but a lot more room for a new-style case insert since they are smaller. You just need to know how to line the spines up. It does take some practice.

I didn't really buy the cases in any huge bulk. I bought some here and there but all from Big Bear. I have exactly 80 shock boxes and they weren't cheap. After shipping costs, I paid close to $8 per shock box so that makes about $630 - $660 for all of them which is pretty expensive. They are getting harder to get these days because Big Bear doesn't make them anymore or so I have been told. I bet he will if the demand goes up. Perhaps I can get some boxes from some other people if I ever need them.
