Can anyone tell me how to spot the difference between normal original games and coversion games?

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Well I was reading this book about witch burnings and came up with a radical idea.

If a neo geo game is a convertion it will float in a bath of hot water, but if it is a real home cartridge then it will sink to a honorable and un-useable death. Your choice really.

Okay that was a bit cruel, normally you can tell straight off by the quality of the print of the insert and manual (if it has one, if it doesn't chances are a game is a convertion). You can also open the cart up and check for wires that shouldn't be there

It was harsh as we gotta start somewhere!

Thanks for the info, so the best way to tell is by looking at the art work.....

lol it's nothing to do with you being a n00b, it's just many questions like this seem to be from people trying to make their convertion copies as close to the real thing IMO

P.S the label is also a dead give away from a real cart to a convertion

I see kinda sounded dodgy! Well check out my ebay user id dlicious007 and you will see that I love to deal in common games but am into buying these, well I just started actually.

How does the label differ is it purely crap quality?

Cheers

If the game has unlimited continues, it's a conversion. A real cart should have 4 continues for each player.

A conversion with eproms will have 4 continues, so it's hard to tell though. Open up the cart and check for yourself.

Check the paper thickness of the insert too and compare it with a real aes insert.

Cheerio!

Hey guys,

I have a neo collection, and I have this Baseball Stars 2 AES cart...
The sticker looks like if someone put another one on top of it,
it's my game a boot?

Thanks,

Ok here's what you look for when spotting conversion games.

First you want to know if its a game that would be worth converting, this means usually that both the US and JPN versions are over 500 dollars. Games like Metal Slug 1, Big Tournament Golf/Neo Turf Masters, Ninja Masters, Pulstar, and a few others are fairly commonly converted carts.

MVS only games are also always conversions, games like Strikers 1945 Plus, Prehistoric Isle 2, and Bust a Move.

Usually but not always conversions will not have a manual, if it doesn't have a manual and is one of the games that fits the criteria above, most likely a conversion.

After that you actually have to have the game in your hand, and do comparisons between the print quality of the art.

Hope this helps, most people on this forums (well-known, established members) will always tell you if its a conversion, otherwise use caution and common sense on eBay.

Neo,

That was one of the dumbest posts I've ever read
on this forum (this month.)

60% of what you said was rubbish.

KTHXBIE.

What? What is wrong with what I said?

Here's what's wrong. Everything.

Hardware determines credits, hence why if you play a legit MVS cart through a Phantom-1 on a home cart console you'll still only have 4 credits, and if you were to create a converter to play a home cart on an MVS motherboard you'd have unlimited credits.

All Neo game boards can boot up in US or JPN mode, MVS or AES mode, hardware determines both.

Hey, sure, just send it along to me, I'll 'check' it for you. I don't have a phone number, just a PO BOX.

I have a conversion of Pulstar that was converted from original mvs parts and it plays with unlimited credits. I also have a conversion of metal slug that uses eproms and plays with 4 credits. Whats that about? Does Pulstar aes version play with unlimited credits too?

I'm either going to have to call bullshit or say that you have a different bios in your system.

Also how does unlimited credits work on a home cart system, you don't have a credit button.

Start button is the credit button. Pulstar doesn't show any credits on the screen either.

No problemo.

A pic of the title screen with 10 credits should suffice.

Basically this makes no sense period, as hardware not software determines these things.
