I would like to start by apologizing to both Robert Wallace and Kenny Boy about some of the recent drama with regards to MVS consoles, mods and pricing. I took some shots at both of them a couple months ago in UI and they didn't really deserve it. I was wrong about what I said in the end. I really have no desire to be at ends with anyone and would like to apologize to them for my off colour comments. I suppose all of us that build consolized boards, superguns, mod consoles and other custom work need to realize that there is going to be others offering the same service at different prices. The market is plenty big enough to support several people selling these services and I think that 90% of the drama is bullshit that has no real substance.

Anyways, on to teh console!

I built this console for Saturn Gamer. He contacted me on this last year and its took me far too long to complete it. Originally I painted it gloss Royal Blue, but right before I assembled it I noticed a large chip in the paint. How it got there is anyones guess. So, I stripped it and repainted it Sun Yellow.

Pretty much standard stuff. The console has .5 inch aluminum standoffs that support it over top a quarter inch thick clear acrylic base plate.

Shot from behind. On the left is the 5 pin din inlet for the external PSU and the power switch. On the right hand side is stereo audio and S-video.

Up close shot of power section.

The audio and video area.

Also, the SGR is back up and running if you haven't noticed it yet. Currently my gallery software is a bit hosed so I can't add any more galleries at the moment. I am going to try and address this sometime soon when I have the time.

As always, comments are always welcome.

thx

Why does everybody use those square power switches? IMO, the round ones look a ton better.

I used a round one for my supergun, but that is pretty much the only one RadioShack had at the time.

Damn that looks pretty good. I'd like to see one in red with white diagonal stripes like an MVS control panel. I'd buy that shit.

they easily ...

- break
- turn lose
- scratch the paint

plus ... they're primitive and ugly.

Em·Vee·Es!!

Absolutely beautiful, broken; truely, a work of art. :)

For anyone walking the fence between AES and MVS, I'd definitely recommend a consolized MVS. It doesn't hog space like an arcade cabinet, and it doesn't carry those hefty collector's cartridge prices. Paying for the system will be the biggest money hurdle; after that, it's a downhill ride of pure arcade fun. :glee:

Seriously, how else can someone with not a lot of space get both Garou: Mark Of The Wolves and Metal Slug X for about $100.00 (U.S.D.)?

You could put it on the front, but my personal preference is to put it on the back.

I don't have any experience with the PGM system.

pgm systems are just like mini 1 slots except the pause button is dip 5 instead of dip 8....

nothing really tough about it I guess....unless you want it to be 4 players and you might need to mount it in something.

By the way, nice work! and although I am not a fan of cutting square hole....those square powerswitches are looking better and better every time I see one :)

norton how about a guide for doing a 4 slot?

There's no difference in soldering. You just have less space to hide the JROK. Also, the controller ports are on the rear.

Todd,

Nice job with your unit. I wasn't aware of these "shots" you took at me. I appreciate your honesty & have no hard feelings.

On a side note, It's funny to see people slam my color choices but praise another member with the same......

Damn you Broken!

I've been trying to resist making a consolised 4 slot for ages. Your fantastic work has persuaded me it's time to give it a try......

BTW, what do you use for cutting the square holes in the metal top?
