So who else loves this classic?

Ninja Combat gets knocked on a lot, but I just have total love for this game. I threw absolute shitloads of quarters into it, and it was the first Neo game I bought for the home system when I first got one in 1994.

This was one of the first games I sought out recently when I decided to get back into homecarts and I've been playing it to death lately. The music, the graphics, the gameplay are all tops in my opinion - I'm sure people who weren't into arcade games in the late 80s/early 90s would find Ninja Combat horrible, but there's something about all those Alpha Denshi games that I just love.

So who else loves Ninja Combat? Post here and let loose your love for the Neo in its original glory days! As an aside, has anyone 1CC'ed it?

I'd say I like at least a bit of every pre-Playmore SNK games.

This one was fine for its era. Looks really dated nowadys.
But still plays fine. Gotta order one of those NOS.

Can we say... uh .. Golden Axe clone ?:eye: :eye:

I don't know it was pretty different to call it a Golden Axe clone. But somewhat fun. Getting all the different weapons was kinda cool.

the best thing about Ninja Combat is the bitches with the fans, when you kill them they go flying back into the air with their ass up so you get a panty shot out of it

HELL YEAH

but seriously though, I've seen a MAME recording of a Japanese player who did finish it on one credit, that was pretty amazing

I dont appreciate the guys in the game as they look fairy looking.

BUT it was the first Neo game I ever played on a home console so I do give it some credit. I like brawlers and that was my first. I like how you get to pick up weapons as that reminded me of Double Dragon. I do enjoy the game but not really much competition involved. Infinite continues was one of the major things I disliked about the game. That means I dont have to try so hard... :p

Well its a fun game to start with...but not to end with...

I like Ninja Combat quite a bit... but in small doses.

+++
I appreciate how ADK put in little touches of practical sprite scaling, so commonly done in NEO's earlier years. The game is sonically good and the gfx are decent as well. And for some reason I really like how they made the bosses die... your typical and cool Japanese rotating -C- shaped explosions, scaling, and shrinking, its cool stuff. The game was made to showcase NEO's little abilities at the time.
---
But the game can be pretty damn hard, if you made pretend it had a normal continue function, instead of infinate continues. I will typically play the game on the easiest mode that Debug provides, as it will at least allow me a realistic chance of living more than 2 hits. And the final boss while cool, is really cheap.

Overall, if you like brawlers, you must own the game by default. Especialy if you own Ninja Commando, why not get the first one to complete it? Its one of the cheapest games available, its mad fun to poke fun at the dorkyness of all the characters and the acting in it.

But I really dig their special moves, I always like doing the ninja's specials, I still think they are cool. " MMMMM HAYIENNDIA!" and hearing all the enemies scream... Its a hoot!

That big dumb guy... oh boy yep dumb as dirt. Remember! "Go squiggy... cum siggy!"

Or that girl... "Help me, helllllp meaaaah!"

I may play it tonite :)

I played the game when it was released, and even then I thought that overall in the end it was not an outstanding game. The same enemies are repeated till boredom, however at that time the graphics were great and big compared to other systems’ games, and I could not believe my eyes when I saw that sequence of the game were an enemy stops a subway train with its bare hands. Still it is one of the most impressive things I remember on a videogame.

Apart from that nice moment, which is enough to me for owning the game, the game is nothing special, I prfer 8Man, Robo Army or Burning Fight over it.

I think between The_Chosen_One and I, we beat this game at least 40 times when we first brought his Big Red home. It was the only game we had at the time, so we did what we had to. Until that fatefull day that he was cleaning under the monitor and found KoF '98, and some other game I can't really recall right now.

BUMP! Ninja Combat is teh bomb. Between it and Magician Lord, Alpha OWN3D my free time back in the day. The voices alone are worth the price of admission. I remember being amazed at the scaling effects used on the rollercoaster on level one. Sweet!

If you know where this video can be found, I'd be really interested to see it. It must be one of those painstaking save-state operations. I just finished Ninja Combat again earlier tonight with a friend, and the final boss is just way too hard for any mortal to even think of 1CCing this game. I could probably on a good day get really far on one credit, but certain parts are just absurd.

Actually the final boss is very easy to kill without losing lives.

I have the vid but its a MAME emulator with the ninja combat roms, so you have to unzip everything run the emulator, the rom and playback the video, I´ll upload it and post the link later.

I think the guy modified the dif setting to level 1, anyway its still very hard to do it.

Search the Gameplay forum, Gemant (a member here) posted a link to the mame save/replay file of a perfect NC game a while back.

Awesome stuff.

I think I've mentioned over hundred times :

Use the female fighter (Kagero) and it's very easy to beat the last BOSS =)
