You just got to get to know it. Learn to understand when the computer is going to counter, for example. To me, FFS on level 8 is much, much easier than AOF2 on level 1, but after reading Fran's post on AOF2 this morning (throw, fireball stun, repeat), it makes me think I just haven't spent enough time with it. Probably the same thing here. Actually, I think FFS is much less reliant on learning enenmy patterns. If you get good enough, you can just fight and beat the computer without following a repetitious pattern. Well, I guess there's a fine line between being able to pretty well guess what the computer is going to do, and following a pattern, but that's my opinion.

It's still my all time favorite fighting game.

:tickled: Nice quote !

FFS can be hard when playing with some charas, but overall if you know some techniques, you'll succeed.

PS: This is not a SF2 Champion Edition cake.

Fatal Fury Special > Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition when it comes to computer AI

Yes it is very hard...but wait till you get so good..that you face RYO after Lord Wolfgang without loosing a round all through 15 battles....then you will know a new meaning of "difficulty" :D

I like the challenge FF Special offers...Fatal Fury 2 was a truly enjoyable sequel, but it was too easy to own the game with Terry...(I know he's the hero but damn :D )

when I first started playing Special, the CPU spanked me something awful, especially the nicely redone Duck King...but having to really be on my toes in order to advance is something I appreciate...even if Jubei and Geese can get downright frustrating...

Not for Joe Higashi. :p

Crouch + C and Jubei will try to do his grab move. Just when he's performing it, do the crouch + D and you'll own him.

Repeat.

Its tough at first, but like every one else said, there is a pattern. Most of the CPU foes are prone to walking into projectiles. I don't exactly why, but they do it.

Fatal Fury Special and its gameplay is gaming history. Much like Street fighter 2
basically Fatal Fury special is as easy and hard as you make it. battles are more technical and drawn out than KOF. If you want to meet Ryo than its hard. If U just wanna beat 5-6 guys and have fun its easy. But this is teh best SNK fighter of all time

I have to say, to me FFS is very, very easy. However, once I reach Andy and see those yellow (ducks?) things in the background running...well I just can't help but get freaked out and have to turn my game off and go into a dark corner and cry for awhile. Then I go back to playing after I take some pills. :loco: Well most of that isn't true, but the part about the game being easy is. Mostly because I pick Geese then jump and do the air fireball, then do it again and again. I should feel dirty and cheap...but with the many times I have been beaten in AOF2 (Hell I can't get past the 2nd fighter!) I don't feel so bad. :D But this is a very fun game I find myself playing over and over. This was pretty much the game that got me into SNK fighters in the first place. So it really is special to me...that and Mai's bouncy. :drool_2: Sorry, just couldn't help it. :D

I almost forgot to mention that! Yeah, something else that freaks me out...the voice of Geese when you beat the game! But you can't complain about a game this old that had voices. Even the stages still impress me. Especially when you get to Wolfgang Krauser. I think I am going to go play it now...

"I'll chisel your grave stone. Sleep Weeeeeeeell"

That part alone makes any effort worthy to get there.

Hint :

When you're cornered while he's doing the SDM and can't do the plane escape, don't block it. Just eat it. You'll get more damage from blocking that move than if you're hit. One hit will send you to the ground. Various hits ( blocking ) will send you to the grave.

fighting LWK there is an element of cheapness in the gameplay. If you are playing as big bear you can beat this guy 10 times out of 10 by drop kicking him and then grabbing him in close. Dropkick, block,C to pick up, and just repeat its ridiculously easy
