Fellow addicts,

I am sitting in my office waiting impatiently for my MAS SuperNova to arrive.

I was a serious SS2 addict back in the day and always wanted to own my own neo-geo system. I forgot all about SS and neo-geo for a good many years, until recently. One day about three weeks ago, I had a conversationn with a friend of mine about the best video games ever made, and naturally SS2 came up. I was convinced that it was one of, if not, the best all around games ever occupying space in the dark and sublime arcades of my childhood.

After the conversation, images of Hanzo dunking an opponent or Charlotte coming down with a jumping fierce attack filled my head. I went home and typed "neo-geo" into the google search engine. One of the first hits was this site. I hit the link and was instantly connected to an entire underground community of neo-geophiles. Further, I was connected to a means in which to play SS again.

Over the next couple of weeks I did some serious research and decided to drop the required cash to set up an mvs system. I bought a board, SS2 and 4, and ordered a SuperNova. I've got the board and games and the SuperNova is coming sometime this morning. Wow!!! I feel like a six year old on Christmas Day.

Well, sorry if this is a bit of a ramble, but after reading several threads the last couple of weeks on this forum, I thought you all would appreciate the excitement and anticipation (my girl friend tries, but she really can't). Thanks for allowing me to tap your vast knowledge and rap here for awhile. Now that I am one of you, I'll be back here sooner rather than later to feed the addiction.

Welcome, nice to see another Neo Geo addict. I was like that too, I forgot about the neo for like 6 years, and then I just got back into the scene. Samurai Shodown 2 is one of my all-time favorite games.

That is what kind of happened to me. Local arcades stopped getting Neo games and I thought the system was dead. Then one day online I ran into a link to here and realized the system was alive and had a ton of new games I never saw before. The first game I got from Shawn was KOF 2001 and every new release after that. Welcome back to the greatest console ever made.

Dido for me....i let it sit for about a year and then got my gameroom cleaned out and noticed these 3 shock boxes that i had won on and ebay auction. I found BB's site again and connected to NG.com thru there. All Neophites eventually locate this place and hopefully sooner than later...but even if later: Once a Neo Gamer, always a Neo Gamer. Welcome back Tharmas!

Yeah, Neo Geo is truly gaming bliss. From now on you're going to be broke most of the time, but when you get new games it's like Christmas all over!:buttrock:

The_Chosen_One did this to me, and I have to thank him. My bank account wouldn't agree, but the neo is definately an experience that I haven't been able to duplicate. Pure gaming, money sapping, ass kicking, memory reliving bliss.

Great story - I think I got back into the Neo in a similar fashion. Good luck with your NG gaming, and welcome to ng.com!

I can't promise that people here will always answer politely, but you can get the answer to pretty much any question about the Neo that you could think of.

That's very true. Start working on that thick skin, and crank up your sarcasm detector.

Indeed it is like being a kid again on christmas day when it comes to the Neo Geo. I can't believe I sold my Neo Geo Gold w/ 7 games including SSII for like $600 in high school '96, and thinking the system will be dead after the lauch of newer systems. Now after a 7 year absence I'm back to relive those glory days and be a kid again. I had no idea Neo Geo would last this long, not to mention still producing games till this day at the caliber of New Gen systems. Even in the last couple years, I had been keeping an eye on this site, reading reviews and seeing new releases appear here and there. I was blown away by some of the reviews/screenshots on MS series, MotW, LB1,LB2 and also to find out later that SNK had released a SSIV and the RB series. I realized then how badly I was missing out after all those years. Finally '04 has been the year of neo geo for me($3000+ purchases)including my beloved SSII. So its Christmas all over again everyday for me baby! Its make up time for those lost years in neo gaming!! Welcome to the club!:D :D

my love for the neo started years ago when i first played samurai spirits

since then i have been in and out of the neo scene, owning some stuff for a couple of years and selling up - then to rebuy when i got the urge - then selling again

on my 3rd collection and i have had it for almost 4 years and i havent sold up, just the games i that didnt figure in my personal collection

but i havent played 1 single neo game in around a year and i have bought all the new releases except kof 2k3, which i will get later

not jaded but i would just rather play the ports or the games on emulation than fart around setting up my home console for a 10 minute fix

but i suppose even the newer stuff - upto and not including slug 5 hasnt been that great and to be honest i am glad i wont have to shell out $350 any longer for new releases, would be annoyed if i had paid $50 for a ps2 port of svc nevermind teh $350 for it

and it sucks major donkey balls considering all the hype

now all my atuff kinda just sits there and doesnt get used

still love the neo - just dont like the newer games - seems the snk-ness is all but gone

**edit** in fact i would rather play a game on my gamecube or xbox to be brutally honest
