Playable but not too sharp.

Not that its ugly but graphically its nothing like playing on a "regular" screen. Everything looks more pixelized but its true for all systems.

What do you think is a nice size tv to play the neo on and still keep a pretty sharp picture?

I thought about 50 inch but what to have a nice picture. Maybe like a 32inch would be better.

With a 32" it is still pretty sharp, but the scanlines also get pretty big. 27" - 30" is pretty ideal for the neo picture.

I hooked up my consolized 2-slot MVS to my 43" HD RPTV using S-Video one time right after I got the MVS; the TV is in 1080i upconversion mode. I was pretty happy with the picture quality, but I have played the MVS exclusively on a 20" TV since then. When I get a 32" TV with S-Video in my bedroom, I will probably play the MVS on that more often, as the MVS only has S-Video output.

Are you looking for a non-HD or a HD? Personally, I like Sony's FS TV's, although the prices tend to be a bit higher than other brands. I have a non-FS Sony 27" TV in my bedroom, and plan to replace it in the near future with a 32" FS.

for 2D 27 inch is THE ideal size.

i'd suggest a toshiba fst pure flatscreen. toshiba has the best analog flats hands down, sony isn't that good unless you get the XBRs (which are HD anyway).

you might be able to get away with 32 inch on saturn/dc/psx 2D, but 16bit stuff wont look as good as 27.

Man, I so wanna get a monitor with RGB input - but it's impossible to find anything that scans at 15 kHz horiz.

A 29" with RGB input would be teh pwn4g3.

There are many TVs (29 and 32 inches) over here in Singapore that come with VGA input, I use an upscanner (the XRGB2) with my AES and the picture is pure gold.

It's even better than SCART because the picture is full-screen, and not cut off on the left (as it is with SCART).

These should be available in the good ol' US as well? The converted price for my tv would work out to be about US$900 or so.

Dude if you can find one please let me know - I've looked with no success. The only thing I can find is open arcade monitors - and that just wouldn't look right.

yea, and arcade monitors can't be used to watch TV either.

Samsung TV

Here's the TV I have, I'm sure there are many other brands you can find in Best Buy or similar chains that have the PC input. SCART will be harder I believe, since it's a European standard. With the upscanner you can convert RGB to VGA, so they should be the same. The XRGB should run about 160-170, methinks.

You could try a multisystem TV, which supports PAL, SECAM and NTSC. You could use RGB Scart with that in either PAL or SECAM modes. A little messing with the service menu would sort out the missing picture to the left.

Well, I have just the monitor for you.
It's this one: http://www.arcade4home.com/legends/legends-02.jpg
{that is KOF 98 running in RGB on a 1 slot}

That is a Sony PGM-200R1U. They are 29 inch professional broadcast monitor. With the optional add on, the inputs would look like this: http://www.arcade4home.com/legends/RGB-2.jpg

So, basically, you get 2 VGA (15 pin HD and 5 BNC) in. These VGA in also acts as RGB in. 2 sets of VGA/RGB out. And yes, the monitor can sync down to 15 khz. VGA resolution can go up to 800x600 @ 60 khz. But it looks best at 640x480 @ 60 khz. Also has svideo in and out, and composite in and out. All input have a stereo RCA in. You also get a line doubler, and the 5 BNC also acts as component in.

The only drawback of this monster is that it is not cheap, since it's broadcast equipment. But get ahold of one and you will never look back.

OH SHIT, that is one hot monitor. I think I nearly lost an eyeball looking at the sharp KOF98 pic. I'm looking to get a Sony PVM make a custom RGB NEO GEO cable. I need superior video quality :buttrock:

I have a 50" LCD and the neo itself isn't too hot on it. I mean, it look okay and all, but you see the pixelation visibly off the composite a/v connection.

I also have a x-box with the romz connected to it, and neogeo games look absolutely stunning through the 50" lcd...

I think the "missing picture on the left" is just a thing for older TV's.

I have the newest model Philips 29" (PAL, SECAM, NTSC support) and I don't have any missing parts on the left of my screen when playing through RGB. :buttrock:
