It's true what they say about timing being everything I guess...

after the recent thread about the new "Batmobile on steroids" being used for the filming of the latest movie, I happen to visit my local comic store this morning and the owner points me and my bro to the TV screen where they happen to be playing a short fan-made film directed by SANDY COLLORA ...

and I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY.

This film was apparently made on a budget of $30,000 and makes me hope that the big movie companies are paying attention...THIS is how a comic is supposed to be brought to film...

but don't take my word for it,

SEE FOR YOURSELF

so has anyone else heard of this film? any comments? questions?

Hahah. No.

Aliens? Predator? To quote some guy on imdb.com, "where did the 30 000 go?'.

This is the worst thing you could ever have associated with batman, and that includes Batman and Robin.

Jesus.

Also, Boner from Growing Pains is the Joker! hahah. Here is his filmography from imdb:

1. Batman: Dead End (2003) .... The Joker
2. Theory of Everything, The (2003/I) .... Scott

3. "G.I. Joe" (1990) TV Series (voice)

4. "Growing Pains" (1985) TV Series .... Richard "Boner" Stabone (1985-198?)

I hope this movie is the big break he is looking for.

Loser.

He he he...I mentioned it in the Aliens vs Predator thread. That fan fic, which is what, 8 minutes long?, is better than the last two full length Bat movies.

Its dark, Bats isnt a stiffy, theres the Joker conflict, and the AvP :) Its really good stuff. My favorite visual? After Bats lands in the alleyway and stands, his cape making him look like he's emerging from the shadowy ground. So sweet.

Yeah, that made the whole film for me...

Rade: heh, I know the Aliens/Predator thing is a stretch, but to me it feels like he was just truly having fun with this project...and since I loved the first 2 BatMan vs. Predator stories, it wasn't all that hard for me to swallow...

I didn't read the thread before I Watched it so when the Alien came out... I was like! WHOA!

It caught me off guard.. Then the Predators... Awesome...

I love the part where he's standing over the predator just about to finish him off then... he turns around..

Great stuff..

:spock: It was alright. There were some really good shots in the film, but the acting was terrible. The bat suit was awful, but the predator was well done. The alien was very similar to the suits used in the first Alien. Overall I give it a half a thumb up.

I guess. I understand that it was merely a demo, but I still found it very cheesey. The man who played batman was physically there, but he wasnt a good actor. Batman is all about having a good actor portray him. Michael Keaton is a prime example. He is a skinny, short little asshole, but he made you beleive he was the bat.

And yeah, the joker was a tool. Joker is one of those characters that is best left to the imagination.

THAT SAID!: I really am looking forward to Batman 5, based off of the cast alone. Though, Ras Al Ghul should be played by BEN KINGSLEY, MOTHERCUKERS!!!! Katsumoto is cool. oh well.

A few criticisms:

Batman's voice was uncomfortably forced, much like when Val Kilmer portrayed him.

The Joker TALKED TOO MUCH. The dialouge reeked of "fanficspeak".

Batman/Predator crossover is something I've seen before and don't really understand, there's nothing to connect them aside from neato whizbang gadgets.

On the plus side, the cloth Batsuit didn't take long to grow on me, and as has been stated before, the shot of Batman rising from the ground was really really well done.

edit: stupid spelling error.

There are Batman vs. Alien comics :(

I like the cinemetography on the movie, i liked the joker (better than nicholsons [ie. more like the comic book/original cartoon]).

The alien and predator thing was a bit much though.

The part with Batman jumping down from the shadows was fucking awesome. Where he stands and his cape slides in just like it would on the old animated series, fucking perfect. Plus the fact that he is all beat to hell, like a man should be after nights of fighting thugs. Predator and Aliens? Just a joke for the most part, nothing I cared for. The Joker was played by Walter Koeings brother if I'm not mistaken. I was alright with it for a bit, but the Joker just got way to preachy. When will people learn, there is only one Joker; his name is Mark Hamill.

I agree. It's not like Dead End is new, but I still get the chills when I think about how great this would be as full length feature :D

i thought this thing fucking owned

im amazed they got the real predator suits, and the alien suits looked like the real ones from aliens or alien, probably loaned out some props.

and yes there is actually a dark horse comic called "batman vs aliens vs predator" if im not mistaken (yes its that long of a title). they also did superman vs aliens and green lantern vs aliens, in the mid/late 90s they pimped the shit out of aliens and predator.

batman was good he easily was better than all the batmans after keaten, i loved the beginning when the cape coming up out of the water, the costume was cheesy but awesome for that budget, if they woulda got the costume from batman 1 it woulda owned hardcore. very dark, like the comics are. joker was good, but there is only one joker (jack), he was more like the animated series mark hamil joker tho, less sinister and more fruit cake looney style.

i liked the different predators, hell they coulda just done an AvP short film and it woulda owned, they had all the fucking costumes.

if they definetly ever sold that they would have to pay more than 30 grand in licensing fees for sure, with all the shit they used.

hell i'd hire that guy to direct a batman or avp movie over the hacks doing them now.

The director works for the "Creature Workshop" that did all the Aliens and Predator movies. (including the up and coming AvP)
