Out of all the KOF games, this has to be, in my opinion, the overlooked, and less remembered of the series...5 mins ago...I just finished it for the first time..god..took me 10 years to finish this one ever since it hit the arcades...(I know I suck bad, but at least you can tell Im determined to finish something)

After cussing out Rugal. I won with the AOF Mexico team (since it's been a while since I have used a neo stick and I just got the controllers today in the mail) So I really need alot of practice before I decide to take on any one of you guys someday...and damn my hand hurts...but its a good feeling of pain...kinda..

Something simplistic and original about the first one always has me coming back to this one..maybe it's just how basic it was? Or I'm just too "old fashion" to look at KOF2003, yet I'll play the new ones..yet I tend to go back to the original 5 (94 to 98) more so.

What do you think?

Yeah, it's a gem all right. Awesome backgrounds. I live close to the Japan team stage.

Play a little Fatal Fury Special, and then throw in KOF94. It's funny how faithful the character moves are. It's just like playing FFS with smaller sprites.

'94 IS original. In the beginning The King of Fighters (as a standalone game) was simply a meeting of all SNK's biggest sluggers. By '95 it had become the biggest thing and was transformed into a series on its own.

So yeah, back then it was purely for the fame and fortune that greeted the victorious team. That's all it was. No evil spirits and world-conquesting corporations. Just in it for the money. And it shows in the atmosphere.

The game has a tremendous amount to offer if you get into it in-depthly. Keep at it as it is well worth your time!

yeh 94 is so overlooked. I love that game to death. It's still one of my favorite kofs.

Rugal's a bitch tho.....:emb:

KOF 94 is one of the best games ever, i never can decide which KOF i like the most, since all more or less is fucking ace. I would say that 94 thought is still a 10/10 game today, at first i flet a little uncomfortable since the controls seemed alot different from latter outings, but after som hours of playing i got into it.

Awesome presentation, graphics, sound and gameplay. The only things i can complain about is the lack of more modern options like a training mode or such. If it had such a feature, it would be perfect!

Wonderful game. The main thing is to remember just how old school it is.

I often feel guilty playing due to cheapness required to win, however I sometimes forget that is how we played back then.

Remember the 'rules'? The group I ran with had several rules; no more than 3 quick jabs, cornering rules (gotta let them out after a few hits), and the infamous fireball rules (kof nulls this somewhat due to A+B dodging, but it was a huge prob in street fighter).

Certainly underappreciated and worth a good, solid play through.

The neo will never die.

Yeah, I love '94 too - the gameplay seems a little on the simplistic side when compared to some of the more modern Neo fighters, but it's a good kind of simplicity I guess.

Also, this game holds a special place in my heart since it was one of the first Neo titles that really made me stand up and take notice of Neo Geo. Between this one and Sam Sho 2, I spent a LOT of time in the arcade that year :D.

KOF94 was ground breaking, but was over looked because SS2 was released in the same year.

KOF94 though gets its ass handed to it by '95. '95 is the best 'old skool' KOF.

i share big shadys opinion. kof 94 wasnt that great just for the fact you couldnt make youre own teams. crazy combos that ruin it a little. ss2 was the shit in 94. kof 95 was dope. still the damage system and some combos ruin it a little.

I like '94 a lot but i think '95 was a little better because it offered a lot more variety in the characters and plus the team edit mode was key. But my beef with '95 is its incredible difficulty. That game is fucking hard..simple as that.

I love 94. It is really hard to compare to the other KoF's, but it definately stands alone well.

I finished that in 98 or 99. I have yet to finish 95. And I've been playing them since I can remember. However i don't own them. Hopefully I can find a cab with 95 and finish it.

I also haven't finished 01, but I am not interested in it.

The only reason to play KOF 94 over 95 is for the aesthetics.

I thought the music was pretty good too. The Ikari theme never sounded better.

Whoa! You do? What's the location? Is there anyway you can get pictures up online - I'd like to check out the IRL scenery.
