It's generally unanimous that Terry got stale after '99...

While this is true on a lot of levels, terry can still be a serious speed "rushdown" type of character in 2002.

(in my opinion, anyway...)

You can do fun stuff like this:

cB, cA, df+C, qcb + A/qcf+A/qcb+B/Power Geyser DM/SDM

or charge, cA, df+C, u+C (rising tackle)

the best way to get into this is from a dash. The first combo given is REALLY FAST, and is pretty safe. if the first cA is blocked, you can just do df+C and it will push the enemy far away enough and you won't have to finish with a special/super. if it isn't blocked, whatever you do will generally push the opponent far away enough, or it will knock down.

Additionally, even though it's been in every KOF, his close, 2-hit C is still an extremely viable move, because it gives you time to do just about anything.

Just thought i might share this with you guys. Anyone agree/disagree?

To my knowledge, you can do all of this in '99-2002.

But in 2k2, he doesn't have any f+A attack like he has in previous KOFs, so it gives him less combos and no good over head command attack. His f+A in 2k1 was good, too bad it comes out too slow.

SNK has a problem with Terry, he's either totally boring or a total beast but never something in between. '99 was probably the closest he got... fairly balanced but he still had the power charge and some other interesting moves. He was admittedly starting to get stale because the power charge followup was not a true juggle. Then, 2000-2002 was nothing but the most basic and boring moves. Finally, SVC to 2003 and we're back to "It Came From Southtown."

Still, if I had to choose, I'd pick SVC and '97 over the boring years any day. The juggles after power charge in '97 and the juggles after the double geyser in SVC are too good. :)

I have just gotten my SVC, and I have to say that I agree with you. Terry is a friggin monster. I have not jumped at the chance to play Terry since KoF '94, but he is really fun to play in SVC.

I don´t tend to use tapping-combos, just with some characters that´s really good at it. The combos i tend to use with terry in latter kofs are.

close standing C > df+C > qcb+A
jA > cA > df+C > d,u+C

I agree, he is pretty boring in thoose games :/
Just compare to Alternative Terry in KOF 98

C > f+A > hcf+D > d,u+C

Or Terry in SVC :D
Max mode on.

cA > df+C > d,u+C > qcb+D > db, b, f+P, qcf+P, qcf+P

jC > C > qcfx2+K (cancel after first hit) > d,u+C > qcb+D > db, b, f+P, qcf+P, qcf+P OR qcfx2+P if the opponent gets in the corner.
