Blue Mary Real Counter?

I have never used Blue Mary, but am trying to get into it now with her. What's this hcb+P do? It just whiffs, and doesn't seem to counter everything. I went to gamefaqs, but they don't really say anything. What does it do? When do I use it? There's a follow up, but I can't connect on the first. Anyone care to help me out? 2k~2k3 it's the same thing, so any of those games, I guess?

You have to follow that up with HCF+P for a grab move. Whats nice is that the whiff is completely invinicible so attacks go through it and you do the follow-up right after. It also has grab like properties so even if your opponent is just standing or sitting there he'll stick get grabbed by the follow-up. Its a great move.

Yep, and for me, it does nothing. Is the timing off? I just don't get it.... so the first part whiffs, and then you throw? I tried "following up" even though I don't hit, but I still can't do anything. Someone please explain?

Actually, the Real Counter is qcb +A/C, and the follow up is qcf +A/C, not half circles back/forward. Not meaning to nitpick.

Just to add something to the thread, even if it's unrelated... In RB2 her Real Counter is stil qcb+A, but it has 3 different follow ups, depending on which button you press, A, B, or C (no joystick movement required for the follow ups in RB2).

Gamefaqs sas half circle. No matter, as I cannot get ANYTHING to link. I just don't understand, and nobody's really helping me with what to do exactly. Does the first one always whiff? When do I input the command for the second?

Okay, I've got it now. I pulled it off in 2k2, then tried 2k3. The timing in 2k3 is much odder (I have both of these in my four slot now, so it was pretty easy to switch to them real fast). My god, the computer just falls for this every time in the corner. I can keep doing it (on level 8) to the comp in the corner and get away with it. Cheap... but then again, the comp's not very good on level 8, either. Every KOF seems to get easier every year.

Thanks for the help. Mary's pretty damn good! Can't believe I've been ignoring her all these years. I like the technician class of fighter.... Guys like Seth and what not. Mary's like this, too.
