I have this XBox Arcade stick that I want to convert into a joystick to be used on the AES.
(Note: I got this stick for Free so I'm not destroying something I spent good money on..
It was new when I got it still in it's box but the Joysticks knob assembly was missing..and it has a paint scrape by the joystick that doesn't affect usage but annoys me..An MVS overlay will fix that.

I put an Ultimate joystick in it for now but I may use a Sanwa..or Super Joystick...(Trying different sticks)Supers are my favorite and want this to look like the control panel on my red MVS...(using an MVS stick on overlay)..
I haven't did much to this yet but add the joystick...I started looking into it today.
This stick uses Arcade similar parts/switches.
I don't like the current buttons in it & I'm changing the buttons to Arcade machine buttons...they will just fit if I use the Horizontal switch buttons.
The buttons in it would be nice to use as lit up buttons for it's existing set-up/but I want the same buttons as in my Big Red.
Even if was I use this on the Xbox I still want the Arcade buttons in it that I'm changing today...all 10 of them.

I was think of wiring the top 4 to the bottom 4 for dual buttons/not knowing if that would work...two fire buttons etc.

I don't want to destroy a Neo Geo AES stick or CD pad to use it's internal wiring & cord...if that is even possible.
I don't know what the internals of an Neo Geo AES stick or CD pad look like.

Where can I get the cord-wire that goes to the AES from the Joystick without buying one of the Neo Geo Controller extension cables and cutting it in half.

I have never thought of doing anything like this so I've never read any of the many topic on such subjects.

I want to make it as Arcade perfect as I can..
What I need to know is what I need to and need to get to make it work on the Neo Geo AES ..

Any help is appreciated,Thank You..

You don't need to sacrifice an AES controller at all, you just need a db15 cable with a female end deep enough to fit in the AES socket. You might try to find PC controller extension cables that have the end made of plastic so you can "circuncidate" it.

Just wire the switches just like in a cab, following the pin-out from www.gamesx.com .

you could even mount a db15 on the back of the stick and buy one of shawn's neo controller extensions. Wire up the db15 pins to the switches and then just connect the ground to the ground pin on the db15. The you can use it for both xbox and neo without taking apart anything.

All you need to do is cut the hole and do some really basic soldering. There was a DC agitec sick that someone did that too up at the SGR, but it's down :(

Or if your really lazy you could buy one of the Neo extension cables Shawn sells and cut off the female end. That way you know the plug will be deep enough and you won't have to worry about trimming anything down.

I use the PC joystick extension cables to build my controllers and always keep a pair of the Neo extension cables Shawn sells in my AES controller ports.

That way I get twice the cord length and don't need to worry since the female socket on the extension cables holds the male end of the PC cable quite snugly, even though it isn't as deep as your standard Neo socket.

My Neo's sockets are to worn to otherwise hold the PC cables plug snuggly. Your mileage may vary and you may not need to.

I'm actualy hooking a GCN pelican stick up to my supergun and neo.

IT's easy.

Also I plan on using the hardware to hook up a NES pad to the gamcube when the megaman anthology comes out.

I've already done a mod on one of those Xbox arcade joysticks for a friend to use on his AES. I used one of the PC extension cables that I got off of ebay for less than a buck. All you have to do is figure out what color wire represents the pin-out for the end of the extension cable (ohm test with a DMM could help you figure this out). Then just solder the new cable wires onto your existing switches withing the arcade stick, it's ok to leave the xbox wires intact as well so you can still use it for both.

Just search for the wiring schematic for an AES joystick if you don't already have it. Easily a quick project to do. Have fun.
