2k3's Gato... ???

I just can't seem to do anything with this guy. Anyone play as him well? I don't get some of his moves. For instance, why bother doing this forward A or B? B will link with *some* moves, but why when you can do this QCF P move instead? I just don't get it.

And, I'm not playing the shitty rom anymore. Bought the real thing, despite what I said about hating it. Yeah, I'm an MVS fan to the bone. Sounds stupid, but the graphics look much better on the cart than the gay rom. Look at the life bar effects, for instance.

Anyhow, I'm losing why I originally posted. I need help with Gato. Thanks for any tips you can give.

Coz I was abt to answer your Gato 'Q', then I see u trashin t3h one so called "G@y Demo rom" version of 2003.

Go to arcade & find it out yourself. You alone as Gato n00b wouldnt hav any idea how to use him properly. :make_fac:

What would you like to know? Only strategies or a rundown on the moves (usefulness etc) as well?

BTW His Fwd+A is an overhead and can be canceled into QCF QCF+P DM, also has excellent recovery upon contact.

Fwd+B is good for combos. I prefer it after a cA over QCF+P because QCF+P gets affected by damage scaling. So one good combo I use is jD, cA, Fwd+B. Fwd+B does great damage and is also for juggling during tag combos.

D,qcb+b, C is one of his best. because its his main combo starter.

after that, you can tag, or do a dm combo

rushdown with standing a, it comes out insanely fast.

I'm pissed that he's in this game. He's cheap, and he takes the place of where someone like Rock, Butt, Hotaru, Dong Hwan, ETC should be. Tizoc sucks too. ( Thanks for the opportunity to blow off steam about 2003's Mark of the Wolves characters ).

...Yes, people kick my ass with him sometimes.

Have you played 'Zoc in 2K3? Chopping his 360s into HCBs, along with good grapple range, and that insane PECK FROM HELL makes him a machine. Gets my vote for most improved character. Either him or Gato....

Did they just flat-out remove Gato's air kick?(couldn't find what it was called) ResOGlas just got 2k3 and he seems to be missing that one move. If so, good on SNK for removing his cheapest one, he's now a (slightly) cooler character. sorry if this has been covered already.

If you mean his DP+K, yeah its gone. I was disappointed at first, but this QCB+P moves make up for it (mind game city). There are soem nice Gato strats here.
