Hey,

Is there anywhere I can look on the web to see how to mod a saturn 6-button pad to work on my neo aes? Is it possible to strip back the black cover and splice in an extra connector, so I can still use the pad on my saturn? Any help, pics, advice would be great.

Interesting.....

Are the colors for the leads&(the 15 pin male end and the male end of the saturn pad) universal? If I just strip back the black rubber isulation from the cord and splice red to red, blue to blue, etc.... will that work? This way I dont have to sacrifice a saturn pad. I can have both leads, 15 pin for neo/supergun and the saturn lead, still intact?

no. the saturn doesn't even use half as many wires as the neogeo does. it encodes the signals, the neogeo uses a straight 1 wire for each button setup. you HAVE to solder straight to the contacts of the pad.. with 2 cables, it'll be pretty damn tight, tho.

you don't have to solder to the contacts but you have to solder to the IC.......

Hey norton,

If you can make me 2 saturn pads with both saturn and 15 pin leads for a super gun/aes I'll pay ya good money. All I ask is that you wire a 5th button for the 15 pin lead for an atomiswave set-up.

In my opinion, it would not be possible to have 2 cables coming from the pad, one for saturn and one for AES. The IC would interfere and it wouldn't work properly in the AES. Saturn pads are dirt cheap anyway, just use an extra one, plus is not very comfortable to have 2 cables anyway.

Finally, you can mod a Saturn pad to work in MVS (I did), but I'm not sure it would work in the Atomiswave, as the Saturn pad doesn't give a clean contact, which is OK in MVS and many arcade boards, but may be a problem in the AW and some other boards.

I am interested in doing this as well, but I would just like to have a blueprint or diagram showing how it is done. Or at least pics of the finished product. I have several Saturn pads that are just dying to play Magical Drop 3 and Metal Slug 3.
