Got 2.5 seasons left of the animation (as everyone says, it seems to be slowing down bigtime in the 5th season) and from the sounds of it, the story just "stops" without any conclusion.

So...

Anybody know where the story leaves off in relation to the manga? Is it worth reading the manga from the start?

I collected the manga when it first came out in the early 90's, and the only way to watch it was either non translated, or with English Fan Subs, even before VIZ had picked it up and slaughtered the opening and endings of certain seasons and what not. URUSEI YATSURA is superior IMO though. *It's all about Ataru doing pervert shit, and Sutaro Mendou storming through Japan with his family private Army/Airforce.

Since I own all 38 volumes of Ranma in Japanese... I can tell you the ending if you want. Just PM me if you want to know the ending to the manga.

I notice the local book store (chapters) has the Ranma first season omnibus (as well as other manga).

any idea if these are 'censored' as well?

Urusei Yatsura was the highrest rated anime ever some time ago. I wonder if it still is.

Anyway, Ranma is MUCH BETTER in manga form. Other than the first season, the anime completely ruins just about everything. Get the manga.

Yes, but where does the overlap end? Inu Yasha and Maison Ikkoku seem to be basically the same in both manga and anime form... is Ranma a lot different, or is there a place where it picks up from the end of the anime and finishes?

About halfway through Season 2 they diverge a lot. Whole characters are replaced. (including Gosunkugi, who is replaced by an annoying servant of Kuno). The anime also becomes way more episodic, and the characters become wholly 2 dimensional compared to the manga by Hard Battle.

Also, the manga features an actual ending, unlike the anime.

Do you know what volume of the manga that corresponds with? Eh... I know I'll just buy it all because I can't stand owning just part of the series!

I thought there were some absolutely brilliant episodes in season 3 (and a few in 4), but I see why I hear so many complaints with later seasons....
