alpha mission 2- how is it?

I'm considering a purchase, but haven't seen any reviews. For all you shooter fans, how would you rate this game? Is it similar to Ghost Pilots at all gameplay wise, or is it faster?

Any thoughts?

Alpha Mission 2 is actually about equal to Ghost Pilots in terms of speed. The shooter engine is also about the same. But I'll warn you, as a shooter fanatic, AM2 is very BORING, unrewarding to me, and I often die so much, I can never carry powerups for long. So i am relegated to the typical 'pea shooter' weapon, which makes the game BORING. The only thing that saves it IMO is the music, which is actually fantastic. The bosses were decent too.

IMO, the game is only worth buying for collector/complete purposes, and not to have a good time with. As a fan of Alpha Mission 1 on NES, I was disappointed.

Well I liked it a lot, the weapon system was very cool imo, and I could make it rather far without dying so I could spend the time to get some really good weapons, it is about the same speed etc as Ghost Pilots but to me that wasn't a bad thing. The last boss was hard as hell though especially since you only get 4 credits, not unlimited ones like in GP. It's a very difficult game imo and with only 4 credits it helps to have a memory card. Or be very good. You are definately right about the music.

am2 was one of the first carts i ever bought....it's a fairly good shooter though nothing startling......i prefer Ghost Pilots though

Yeah, that's what I expected, considering nobody talks about this game. Not terrible, but not great either. Saves me 65 bucks.

Quite good, but pick up "Last Resort", "Viewpoint" and "Blazing/Pulstar" first...
