Ok - I think I'm suffering from a sinus infection. Anybody got any good home remedies to make this shit a little more bearable?

The person with the best remedy gets .... uh, the satisfaction of having helped another forum member. And we all know how much ng.com members value that .... :rolleyes:

I've been coughing since mid december and finally got a diagnosis
from a doctor who isn't a dumb shit allergy medicine dispensing
fuckhead. He figured out right away it was bronchitis and perscribed
the meds I needed, which included killer antibiotics and some
cough syrup with codiene in it.
good stuff.
you can't imagine my relief.
I couldn't talk properly without coughing or sleep without
taking a cough drop to bed.

Well, I understand the dangers of people using antibiotics indescriminately, but sinus infections can last for like 3 weeks or more if you don't go after them.

Antibiotics aren't evil - you just have to be selective about when you use them. Now, about this overflow of antibiotic soaps - that's some ignorant shit, and is probably at least as damaging as oral antibiotics.

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna drop by urgent care tomorrow and have it checked out - doesn't seem to be getting much better.

And yeah, I've got a bit of achiness, sore throat, general malaise, etc.

Sorry and no offence to you, but this isn't really something you go to the doctor for. I had similar symptoms as you and the worst passed in about a week, would've been sooner if I took some regular OTC meds but you don't really need that stuff either..

Yeah, under normal circumstances I probably wouldn't. The problem is that I've got some deadlines approaching that can't really be pushed back, and I really can't afford to be stuck in bed for the next 2 and half weeks (that's how long the girl I got it from said hers lasted).

Secondly, the symptoms I mentioned are very general, but can vary widely in severity, persistence, etc. So to assume that our situations are the same is a bit of a stretch.

Although this isn't a cure-all it does help in the long run.

1) Get a saline rinse that you can squirt up your nose. IE: Neilmed or Ayr (found at most pharmacys, Targets, etc.) That helps eat up the infection and clear your throat

2) Gargle, don't swallow, a 50/50 mixture of PEROXIDE and WATER. That eats up the bacteria on the back of your tongue. Since thats where you collect the most bacteria.

Hope some or all of that helps...GL.
