First of all, if somebody thinks this doesn't belong here just move it. The reason because I've posted this here is that this is basically the first exclusive big hit title to be released in AW, so its price MAY be indicative of what will the future SNKP games for this board cost in release, which will also be supposed to be exclusive and have a popular franchise behind them.

http://www.coinopexpress.com/products/pcbs/atomiswave_system/Guilty_Gear_ISUKA_3692.html

895$, including the motherboard. Of course it is a very high price for private users, but it doesn't look that expensive for arcade operators, when compared to the debut price of many MVS games. Of course we can't expect this price to drop as quickly as the MVS ones, but well, this is what we have right now.

I don't think the price of KoF NeoWave is gonna be much higher than that, I guess around 1000$. Again we'll have to watch its price evolution.

EDIT: Ugh, I just checked Sammy's website and they say this game was released in December 2003...

http://www.sammy.co.jp/english/products/amusement/atomiswave/index.html

Does anybody know what was its price back then?

Oh well, it just got moved, that's cool with me. Specially after noticing it wasn't even a New. :emb:

Come on, Fran, you can whine all you want, and I can understand you, but for me all the AW haters out there are even more annoying than the fanboys. You know the AW is the future for the new SNK(P) games (notice I'm not calling them Neo Geo games), so relevant news (OK, this one wasn't) about it are, at least in my opinion, worthy of News & Rumours.

I didn't want this topic to be a another AW haters VS. fanboys, so let's just let it bury itself.

You just miss the point.
AW is a business use system and new titles will be VERY expensive, like new KOF 2003 carts were upon release.
To afford new games, you will have to wait a good time, sure thing.

So,you can go ahead and buy AW games now,but we will see when new titles will be out.
$1000 for KOFneowave upon release...well,seems more like fantasyland.

So what? I'm already used to wait for buying the "new" MVS carts, the newest one I have right now is KoF 01 (ROTD doesn't count). While I wait before buying KoF NW I can buy KoF 02, 03, SS5 and many more.

As I said it's still a mystery how will the AW prices evolve (although I'm almost sure they won't drop that fast), so this post was aimed to try to "predict" it. You may be right and KoF NW may cost more than 1000$ which was my bet, but I personally don't care if it's 1000 or 2000$ on release because it's still too much for me and I'll have to wait anyway, but I'm patient enough. Of course when they are affordable for me the ports may already be available, but that doesn't mean owning the AW is stupid. Why does some people bother here to buy AES games or arcade boards when they can have ports much cheaper, or even ROMZ for free?

you know, i'll mod your aw and stuff, but Fran is 100% right. this is neo-geo.com and aw related stuff should be posted in unrelated, as long as there ain't an aw sub-forum.

Well, as I said everybody is entitled to have his own opinion, and you know what mine is and I'll continue defending it. Of course mods have the last word and I'll accept it. I agree we need an AW forum anyway.
In any case, with no new Neo Geo games been made, what will the News forum be about in the future?

Well, this discussion can go on "forever and ever"...

Fran said:

I've never complained about the price of MVS games, actually I bless MVS for being so cheap (provided you have a little patience for the prices to drop). Many times I have "complained" about the price of AES carts, in the sense that I don't understand people who spent the money in them, but I let them be.

and then, you and other people like you,
all of a sudden are ready to splash out 500 + for an AW kit and a super shitty game like dolphin blue

I didn't spend that much money (like that matters anyway), and didn't get Dolphin Blue, but I've already said many times that my game, Demolish Fist, is not good. And as I said I bought it now to get the games in the future (how far will this future be is what I was trying to guess with this post).

and you guys call yourselves "neo fans"...

yeah,right

So what? Just because somebody has spent 1800$ in a minty Metal Slug AES, and I spent less than 50$ in a loose dirty MVS cart, I am less of a "fan"? Sorry, the amount of money you have spent only tells me how much of a "big tymer" you are, not how much "fan" you are. From the guy that puts a few coins in the arcade, to the one that owns all the AES carts, passing through the one that buys the ports, all are fans as long as they enjoy the games. And no, ROMZ don't count.

And notice that I have never call me "neo fan", as I couldn't care less about the hardware, only the games. If the term "neo" implies Neo Geo only, then I don't consider me a fan.

Exactly.

It really suprises me at how many people are 'against' the AW, or feel that the Neo*Geo and AW are mutually exclusive.

You certainly don't find CPS1 vs. CPS2 vs. CPS3 arguments among Capcom fans. Or maybe you do. *shrug*

So, you must have played Isuka then? How did you get to preview the game before it comes out in Japan?

Play the game first before you proffess it's quality.

I'm enjoying this thread.

I understand your AW joy Amano, but I'm with Fran regarding one special thing : It's more than proven that this place Is a Neo Geo fanboy world.

I may don't sound a Neo Geo fanboy, but I am. The thing I don't like about all this Atomiswave BS is that people are trying desperately to find a Neo Geo sucessor.

It will NOT HAPPEN.

Why ? Coz the Neo Geo is unique. KOF AW may look good and I'll want to play It for sure, but I bet It will not be the same feel.

Meh, I'll jump on the AW bandwagon when they prove they can do a Neo series justice. Until then, it's just another piece of arcade hardware that I will never own.

Well, I have an AW and I am glad I do. I hate the GG series, but I still care about those opening prices. How long before those prices drop to cart only $200-$300 KOF 2004's :D summer 2005 if I am lucky :(

The games are coming, things are changing, and it's going to happen so you're going to have to deal with it in one way or another. That's up to you. You can still love the past as if it were now while experiencing the present and the future.

I have neo games on their way in the mail right now, but I also have martial masters coming soon, and am now saving for an SNKP atomiswave game later this year and a more travel friendly consolized MVS.

If it helps at all though, I understand how you feel sort of...as I used to be a big time DC fan and even today I don't have a PS2. I bet I missed something good in there somewhere though.

So, what will you miss next? Sam sho 6? Metal Slug 6? KOF 2004?

I still buy DC games

all the old ones I missed when the system was new (and games retail priced)

but you should check out the PS2, there's a few games in there worth playing. I'm getting mine modded soon so I can play the import games.

i'll pass on the ps2 ;) ....lol.....but, like you still buy dc games (I bought bust-a-move 4 about 4-5 days ago on the dc for $4.99) the majority of the AW owners will continue to buy neo mvs games. I know I will....

I still need some kof's and a ton of other games...

No time for ps2 stuff here.....infact, I can't remember the last time I played my gcn or xbox. I play neo, pgm, and dc......and some ps1 as of lately...but mostly neo stuff and work on finishing my pgm project.I can't wait for my MD3 and martial masters carts to get here :D

But back to the point...you can bring in the new and still carry on with the old like nothing ever happend.....or something like that.

Make sure to post some impressions of Martial Masters here
in unrelated. I'm interested. I heard the animation in that
game is amazing? maybe even surpassing the likes of SFIIITS...

Sure, no problem. I won't have it for a little while though, since doug won't have it until Wednesday. I have a pause button on my pgm setup so I can try and take some nice in-move pictures.

I wish I knew how to capture videos and upload them...

Take care that it looks like the game has ben out at least in Japan for some months. When I was browsing coinopexpress some time ago they had listed GGI as a game "coming on March 18", so that's why I thought this was the (first) release time. I guess it was only the time their own stock was available, maybe it was the Asian release.
I actually heard some opinions of Japanese players that the game really isn't great. We'll see.

@Atro: You sound like everybody here getting or planning to get an AW is going to dump the MVS, and that's not true. I'll keep it and continue playing with it, and most likely still get games for it. The AW *IS* the Neo Geo successor in the sense that it will be platform where the new SNK(P) games will go, specially some of the famous franchises. I mean, most of the so caled "neo geo fanboys" complain about how crappy the latest Neo Geo games are, so I just don't see why they bitch about no more games are made. If you want your gaming to die with the Neo, that's fine, but there's people here who wants to play new games.

As I've said many times, I've already got basically all the MVS games I really like, so instead of trying to become a "big tymer" by collecting ALL the Neo games, without worrying about its quality, or try to get minty kits or rare AES carts, I just prefer to look to the future and have a look at what the new games can offer. If they actually suck, then to the hell with them. The fact they are new doesn't mean they are automatically good, but doesn't mean they are bad like many haters think. In the same sense, the fact that a game is a Neo Geo game doesn't mean is good.

For me, a fanboy of a some kind of games is the one that thinks all of them are good and worth getting. We've got many of them here, but don't count me.
