I'm not sure what you have the 1 slot in..What type of cab..

But I would check the monitor adjustment pots (Vertical Hold) that should be mounted somewhere under the control panel..

In my 4 slot the adjustment pots are mounted to the wood(wood) right under the control panel, whereas when I open the panel it's right there to the right...

It sounds like his cab isn't a dedicated since only mentioned getting a 1 slot pcb and a samsho cart. I'd try what chris said about adjusting the monitor, but be CAREFUL when messing with the monitor. The adjustment pots for the monitor may be located right by the monitor itself, but if you're lucky, there may be some kind of small board mounted away from the monitor that allows you to adjust it (it's nice so you dont have to pull a cab away from a wall to access the monitor).

Its a old Street fighter cab. I looked by the monitor and I cant find anything to adjust the alignment all I can find is the stuff to adjust the color. It dosent do this with any other game I have either and it only does it duting the intro and before/ between the rounds.

Is my MV-1C defective? I can post pics of the back of my monitor or of the screen scrolling if that will help? It worries me cause I just got this and my cab works for all my other stuff

Hmmm,

I wonder if a weak cap on the monitor chassis could cause that even though it only happens with only one game.

Or a failing/low on voltage power supply..

(((Question for ttooddddyy .....))

Does this happen when the cab has been on for awhile..& with only that game..

Have you tried another cart with the cab being off/cold..?
Do you get the screen roll with any other cart upon the first time you turn on the cab..?

What carts do work..?

I also wonder if a dirty cart/connection would cause this since different connections on the cart are being used then the ones that work..

My last thought would be a bad/going bad EPROM or boot, but on a Samurai Showdown 1..hmm...I think a boot is out of the question.

Pictures are always helpfull..they may narrow the problem down quicker..

Also..
Can you test the voltage coming out of your power supply at all..?

I would take the board out and clean the jamma end connections using Briggs methods below..Or with light sandpaper/green dry Scotch Brite..
I would also clean the carts connectors and the prongs/connectors on the motherboard itself.

Just to knock that off...

.....................................................................

I wonder if there is any difference in the wiring of a Street Fighter cab that would cause this..

hmmm. if your other games are working, maybe you can try to clearn the samsho cart's edge connector? Try to use a q-tip to clean it.

I agree....try that first and see what happens.

My last resort would be a too low power supply +5V voltage..

Yeah, sometimes PCB's can be fussy about how much power they want. I'd guess that that cart cleaning or adjusting the power supply would help. I'm trying to learn more about troubleshooting cabs in general, and I don't think there's anything wrong the monitor, but i may be wrong.

I dont have the stuff to clean the stuff tonight I'll try that tomorrow. The MV-1C is really clean though its about 6 months since the guy I bought it from got it from the neo store and the game looks really really clean as well. is there any way to adjust the power supply?

I "myself" would say the +5v is either two low or even too high..on the power supply.

You really need a Digi Meter/voltage meter to read the Voltage going up to the board..
Measured at the board through the harness for a true reading..

Take a picture of the power supply if you can..

So you havent located the vertical hold control ?

I do not see wires running off the board to a sub board with the adjusting pots on, they must be situated on the monitor pcb.

What monitor is that ?

On your second piccy looking down on the monitor pcb, there is the gray cylindrical capacitor to the left of the crt neck in the pic. To the top of that there is a plug/socket on the board, the wires are white, red, green and blue I think, it leads off the board and down into the cab, follow these wires and you should find the vertical and horizontal hold pot on the other end. Adjust the vertical hold untill you get a stable video image.

Sweet!!

I knew ttooddddyy would come to the rescue..

I know nothing about monitors..

I edited that, those are the sync and rgb s from the jamma/mvs edge connect. I think the pots are on board. If I know the monitor type should be able to locate them
