I'm in the process of building a controller to be used on my Neo Geo and for future use in a Supergun setup. What does everyone use for the controller cable? I've looked at the local Radio Shack for a 15 strand cable but didn't find anything offhand, and I thought of using the cable from an old PS pad but it only contains seven wires.

Any suggestions?

I get mine from ebay, inwhich they are actually PC joystick extension cables, cut off the end I don't need and strip the wires for connecting to the PCB. The only other thing you'll have to do is adjust the connector so that it has more depth to it to make contact to the recepticle (shave off about a quarter inch).

I've already figured out where each wire ends up on the connector side, so if you need that diagram let me know and I'll send it.

when you checkout, pick the USPS shipping method (cheaper)

they *look* like they'll fit snuggly into the MVS controller ports

Another member bought those extensions but got a different type than those pictured, one that wouldn't fit the Neo ports at all...:annoyed: Never believe pictures.

I totaly forgot about the ends needing to be all plastic to shave for neo geo receptical depth. Heres some other links with all plastic cables. Of course you might check with the sellers to make sure the item is same as pictured as mentioned above.

Where exactly do you shave off a 1/4 inch on the connector?
I don't have a real Neo stick to look off of, so I don't know how its suppose to look.
Thanks. :D

The control ports on a neo geo are deeper than the terminals on the cords alow so you have to cut back an 1/8th of an inch or so on the male end so it can insert deeper. Once you see it and try to insert it you'll get what you have to do. No biggy

Mr. Wizard is correct. It's not that hard to cut off, just make sure you're constantly checking it out as you cut... it's like a collar around the actual (female) connector portion, that once you've cut it it can be easily pulled off.
