Can someone tell me why the the right and left sides of the image get cut off on the AES? I only noticed this on the newer games. Older games like Fatal Fury display the entire image on the screen. On Matrimelee I can't really see the character portraits and I'm missing a good portion of the stress meters. I have my system hooked up to a 20 inch tv, if I get a bigger tv will that fix the problem?

It's not the aspect ratio, it's just the viewable area on your particular TV set. Unfortunately many TVs have some picture cropping whilst most game consoles use the entire viewable area. The only way to fix this is to buy a really swanky TV that has picture adjustment controls, or buy one that has minimal cropping; modern flat screen TVs tend to be better.

Thanks for the info. I figure I'll have to buy a new tv so I can get the whole image. I have a Malata 520 multi region DVD player that has X+Y scaling capability. I wish the Neo had the same thing.

I have a similar problem as this, my tv shoves the RGB image from my consoles slightly to the left and sometimes cut of power bars etc as a result.

This has happened over time, the image used to perfectly centred.

Could anyone shed some light on this?

you can try to find the service manual for your particular tv and find the service code usually entered on the remote to access the service controls and adjust the picture size and everything just like a PC monitor. Just use google, yahoo or some other search engines.

Hi sonofx51,

is that possible to do on all tvs? Mine's a 28" Mitsubishi from around 4 years ago. Hopefully I can modify the screen settings as you said.

Maybe, just search for your tv's model number, I'll try and pm you a website I used to have bookmarked. When my computer crashed I lost all my bookmarks and am still trying to find some sites again.

Just as a warning, be VERY careful with what you adjust as it is possible to totally screw up your TV if you mess with the service menus too much. If you change anything, be sure to keep a record of what the original values were, just in case you need to change them back. I did the same when playing with the service menu on my Trinitron, and it was probably a good job that I did :)

Neo geo used a 4:3 aspect ratio and most tvs today do not.

I purchased an older monitor and the screen fits perfectly, however the monitor is tiny so I really only use it to test rgb boards.

Umm...no. Practically every arcade game, and every TV is 4:3.

Unless you have a widescreen TV, it will be 4:3.
