well, I finally got Magical drop 3 mvs coming next week....but I am not sure if I should try and get ahold of money puzzle exchanger.

I played it once and really didn't get into it. Then I played Magical drop 3 and loved it!! But, now I am thinking about how people always talk up MIE and wanted to get some comparisons and opinions from some other board members.

Besides wanting lots of neo games :D Do you think it would be worth it to get them both? I do like puzzle games, but will be getting puzzle bobble and atari tetris, along with suchi bar in the future. I also already have puyo puyo sun and am not sure if Money puzzle exchanger is different enough or good enough to warrent buying if I already have these other 4.

what do you think?

*~* please don't say things like, "YES" without saying what about the game makes it worth it :)

I say no I can't get into MPE for some reason. The combos are too much slower than MD3. Maybe I just suck at it, but combos are so much harder to see and predict.

I agree with the speed of MD3 being one of the main draws, but I am sure that the MPE stuff gets easier once you play it more...

I can't wait to let my girl play MD3! She is a big puzzle game fan and I know she will love this one!

anyone else?

I absolutely love money puzzle exchanger. Its the best and most addictive puzzle game on the neo.

I have both games and they are different enough to in my opinion. MD3 is much more intense while MPE tends to be accidental combos and cutesy music. I like the VS screen music in MPE though.

MIE is basically MD3 with an added layer of complexity - you lose some of the speed, but it's more rewarding to a player who takes the time to plan out combos.

I mean, you either wanna clear stuff as fast as you can or look 5 moves ahead to find a big combo. They're different enough to get both... just a shame I can't find people to play MIE with me!

MPE ownz MD 3 for free.

I prefer MPE over MD 3 because it requires a bit more thinking and strategic planning, whereas MD 3 is pretty much your basic match-the-colors ordeal.

Both are must-have titles in my book, though.

This is an interesting question.
MD3 is by far the faster of the games and as such it's MUCH easier to get trounced by someone who is an expert. MPE is slower, but there is more strategy involved. But I really enjoy it since the challenge is setting up the cascades based on what the sprites turn into. Much more difficult to win by a landslide than MD3.

So, yes, buy it! Cool game and very addictive. Honestly, my wife only plays 2 Neo Geo games, MD3 and MPE, and does like MD3 more I think for the fast pace (ADD.....), but does really like MPE too.

And compared to Puzzle Bobble, both games seriously kick massive ass. PB is way too slow for me and the angles suck (especially compared to Bust-a-Move Pocket which is much easier to see).

EDIT: Gotta add that the character names in MPE kick ass. "Exchanger", "Mightdealer","Debtmiser"!

MPE is one of the finest puzzle games going, also, it's win mechanism is much fairer.

Not easy to play if you are noob though.

It does deserve a second look, Money idol exchanger is by far the best puzzle game on the neo and it being expensive? I got an original cart for $5. :D As for it being slower? Naah it isn't, if you don't move those piles of coins fast enough you die VERY fast.

Exchanger is by far the better puzzle game.
And it has THE best intro for ANY Neo game.

I love MD3 more than MPE, the music and voice are great. And you have more play mode. MPE is also a good title. If you like puzzle game, you should get them both.

I prefer MPE over MD3, I enjoy the strategy aspect of it. With practice, getting combos isn't 'luck' anymore, it's skill with mapping and planning.

Well I like to get warmed up on MPE but then after awhile it hurts my brain, then it's time to move to the relaxing MD3. They are both good.

If you don't buy it, please hook me up. :D

The answer to the thread question is yes. Even if you prefer one over the other, these are the 2 best puzzle games on the Neo. I cringe at the homecart price for either of them however... I use MVS carts for both.
