i'm currently looking for a few hundred meters of the very thin wire that came with the afterburner, so i sent an email to the guy behind portablemonopoly and he said, he got it off of 'Squire's Electronics'.

google came up with the following :

Squire's Electronics
Shippensburg, PA
717-532-7373

does anyone know that store and could tell me how, to order off of them? (the owner of our local electronics store is looking for that kind of wire as well.)

or are there any other sources you know of? (MKL, i'm somewhat looking in your direction. :D )

I don't have an Afterburner myself and the AB manual on that site has drawings instead of photos but I assume it's two very thin wires. Are you looking for wires of the same gauge? Is it of the utmost importance that they are black and red or the colour doesn't matter? Anyway, this is 26 AWG (corresponding to 0.12 mmq):

They're so-called flexible wires, meaning that the insulation is particularly soft and thus prone to be easily bent.

And this is 30 AWG (= 0.055 mmq) but not flexible:

Or you meant something else?

yes, but i can't seem to find any source and the owner of our eltectronics store has been looking for quite a while, too.

Arakon said it's also known as 'mod wire', but he doesn't know of any source either.

black and red would be nice, but it's not too important.

Anyway, this is 26 AWG (corresponding to 0.12 mmq):

that's what i'm looking for.
do you know of any source, where we could get a few hundred meters? a european one would be awesome, since i'm not too keen on spending a fortune on shipping costs, customs and tax.

http://www.epm.it/cavi.htm

item numbers: 760355.5 (250 metres), 760355.7 (10 metres)

It's a shop I sometimes buy stuff from. I don't know if they ship abroad but I could buy them for you if you want. But maybe I should send you beforehand a small piece of those wires as a sample so you could see if it's really what you want.

I think 0.12 mm² is too large.. I got 0.08 mm² wire here and that's easily twice or more as thick as the wire we're looking for. I believe the one we want is AWG30, however, with stranded wires (there's only like 5 copper strands in it), not solid core.

I'm afraid not. I used wires of that ultrathin gauge for a SNES mod and I took it off a pair of cheap headphones. However I cannot point to a source for such a large quantity, sorry.
