How do you get the different endings in Slug 1 ??

Are you sure there are different endings O_O? That's something new to me.

Yes, there are... One where all the soldiers are dead, and it plays the Metal Slug theme, the other has all of the soldiers running from the villages or something, and has a different music track with a japanese girl singing...at least in the saturn port. I have unlocked both, but I'm not sure what the requirements are.

I've seen both endings (I play on MVS), I believe its related to your score.
There's no singer in the "happy" ending, but there is a kareoke thing at the bottom of the screen and, instead of dead soldiers, the soldiers are sort of dancing (using the standard animations) to the tune. It ends with a hint of the aliens to come.

well if i remember well it's not related to the score or something like that
to get bad ending finish the game in 1player mode
to get happy ending finish the game in two player mode,well you exactly need to have marco and tarma on the screen when the narrator says mission complete at last stage(well if you play alone ,just push star on player 2 jusy before destroy the last boss)

I swear I beat it in one player mode and got the happy ending before ,

The only difference I ever noticed was I got one version where the bad guy catches the paper plane and another where it goes off into the night sky...maybe I wasn't looking properly <img src="graemlins/shame.gif" border="0" alt="[Shame]" />
