if i was to put my memory card away in storage........
will it save the battery from running out..........??????

No I don't believe so... because essentially the batttery is always on...

You can always replace it though (a hassle from what I hear)

if it makes you feel better, i've had the same memory card for 13 years, and it still operates just as well as the day I bought it. I have mostly left it in the AES all the time.
