How can I break into my MVS 25 cab? (no key!)

My Neo MVS 25 cab was in a local arcade for a while (until the owner got too lazy to keep the place open during the posted hours and everyone stopped going), so I got my machine back not long ago and it's sitting in my dining room. Like an idiot, though, I forgot to get the key back from him when I picked up the cab.

I've got my key to the coinbox, but the other one worked on the marquee case, bottom of the control panel, and the door to the MVS games. I never had a key for the back panel. Problem is, this guy's being a complete jackass and has been ignoring my phone calls, e-mails and voicemails about getting my key back to me! I'm about to give up on this clown.

Here's my question: is there ANY way to get to the MVS slots without having to drill through the front lock??

Nice Cab...:buttrock:

Man..I don't see anyway to do this except for drilling the lock..if you can even drill these type of locks like I have on my Candy..
The type with the circular key hole.

Maybe a locksmith...

Damn. I really don't want to bring the cab anywhere to get checked out, and I suppose calling a locksmith out to my apartment wouldn't be too cheap. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be getting my key back anytime soon and I have no idea where this guy lives, so I just might have to drill.

Anyone else? Is there some unscrewable panel I'm missing or something?

I've never looked to see what the underside/bottom of the cab looks like,,,but I doubt they will be anyway to get through the bottom...
That would be the only other spot that I've never checked to see if it was accessible..
Your cab has the round keyed holed locks yes..?

Ok..Check it out.

I opened my coin door.(pull it out).I see screws that hold the box in place..
If you take out those screws and move that box..
You may be able to get your arm up behind the front doors lock screw that holds it..or even the small metal bar that moves across to hold it locked... and loosen it to open the frond door.
I'll take a pic of the lock...

Yeah, they're the round locks. You're right, there probably isn't a panel on the bottom, but I'll check it tomorrow when one of my roommates can help (the cab's so damn heavy!!).

You know, I'm still going to need that key back to get into the control panel in the case that a button goes out or something. I need to track this guy down and rough him up!

I forgot to mention that I already tried that. :(

The box only moves about half an inch with the screws removed -- I really don't think it has any room to move anywhere. I'll go try again though.. maybe I didn't push hard enough last time!

This is what the lock on the door looks like from the back side..

I'll take a picture of the inside so you can see what it looks like.

I'm setting up a few pics..The door has to be pushed down It's also held from the coin return..But is a bit moveable.

>>Ok..I'll only slide back but is held from the coin chute above and won't move far..

Right, I pushed a good bit but I think you're right -- coin chute's holding it in place. Judging by this photo (which I took before I got locked out) it seems like there's plenty of room to move it, but.. nope.

LOL...I found a Japanese "Gaming Medal" while taking the pic.

It'll move but it'll bend the crap out of the coin doors chute..

Back to the Drawing board..

Heh, you're right! ;)

I'm giving up for tonight and going to bed, but dude, you're a hell of a guy for spending so much effort on this!!

Hopefully I'll get a phone call tomorrow from Bryan (the jackass) saying he's been out of town or something and will finally give me my key.

... Riiiight.

Your welcome man..

I'll be around in the daytime tomorrow if you need any more pics..

As looking further I think you may be able to get in through the box in the back that holds the AC plug..

To reach up to the back lock..
But be carefull if you do..the monitor is very close to the back door.

I discovered something else tonight..
If you take the coin box out you will see a coin insert play meter..Hah..I never knew that was there.
It reads 8468 plays..

NOTE:

I don't see anyway of getting in from the bottom..

AAARRRGGGHHH!!! I was able to push the power supply out of the way and pull KOF 2001 out of its slot, but annoyingly enough, MVS carts are literally a few millimeters too wide to be pulled out through that back hole!!

I tried cramming my arm up to reach the back lock (almost got stuck) but I'm a few inches short of it.. and even if I could reach it, I don't think I could take it apart with just a crescent wrench. I couldn't get the marquee lock apart like that, either...

*sigh*

Looks like I won't be able to play my new KOF 2003 and SSV carts until I find Bryan and get my key. Of course, this could take weeks..

Anyone else have any advice, or prior experience with locksmiths?

have you tried to take a wrench and take that nut off? if you do then you can take off the metal arm and open the door

Yes..I agree..try taking the nut off.
Try a wrench/pliers..
If you losen it enough you'll be able to get the door off.

With the marquee lock, all you need to do is remove that back panels 4 screws/take out the bulb and losen the nut on the lock with a wrench or pliers..

I, like many others in this thread, have no advice but just wanted to say how nice and clean your cab looks. Looks brand new!

... try the locksmith- you dont want to possibly damage that thing!

Thanks for the suggestions, guys, but I FINALLY got my key back from the guy tonight. Whew. Good thing I didn't have to start drilling or anything! :emb:

And the cab isn't as perfect as it looks -- there are a few dents on the other side, and if you look closely you can see that the top rack w/ the marquees and speakers has been somehow shifted a few inches to the right. Really weird condition, but I got it for $180 from Arcade Infinity so I can't complain!
