My Egret and Neo motherboard have been working very well for a few months now and now I'd like to put a Mame set up next to it but I want to be able to switch from MVS to Mame in seconds and therefore do not wish to make any modification to the cab.

I found the following two alternatives online, has anyone tried either? Does it work well? Any comment/suggestion is welcome.

- Ultimarc
- Do it yourself...

So one of the obvious advantage of the second is basically that it should be cheaper, however my electronic skills tell me that it is also riskier.
As for the Ultimarc its a little expensive and seems good but is it really adapted to my needs/cab? (seems like it to me but did anyone ever tried it?)

If anyone with electronic knowledge wants to mak one for me I'd be happy to compensate for your time and pay components if u can beat Ultimarc'prices and amke an apdapter that would work perfectly with my cab.

Thanks

Don't know much about the MAME set ups.

I beleive I know of something similar you may be interested in though.

http://www.ultracade.com

Ultracade distrubes game packs with their system, and claims to have permission from Capcom, Taito, and Nintendo for use of some of the titles.

Nice if you want the origonal Street Fighter around. Easy to set up, and comes with a lot of games already installed.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the info, however Ultracade being a conversion kit once its installed in a cab. you cannot change back to MVS board.
+ the ultracade is propably an expensive solution (I guess close to $1000) whereas the Ultimarc cost less than $60 and I already have a PC.

Oh well.

There was an Ultracade machine at the truck stop I used to work at. It's a pretty neat machine. Just thought it might be a nice alternative to a MAME cabinent because there was liscencing to the games pre-packaged on there already.

But you're right. It's pretty dern expensive. $299.xx for a retro game pack can seem a bit much. Especially since an Atari collection or Colecovision collection can run for under $20.00. Then, I've never seen a roller-ball controller for a Playstation.

Best of luck to you. Hope you find a solution.
