Neo-Geo Pro Joysticks -- rare??

I have something to share with the Neo-Geo community. I have a pair of Neo-Geo Pro Joysticks that are different from the ones currently in circulation. I have been using these joysticks for years, and while I have seen pictures of other Pro sticks, it never really occurred to me that mine might be that much different. I have posted pictures in this thread for people to evaluate and speculate on -- I'm really unsure whether these sticks are 'special' or not.

Can't say I've come across those before. Uncommon to say the least. Rare prototypes maybe?!

I have seen these before. I think I may have seen them on ebay back when I first got my home system, and was looking for joysticks. Anyway, I remember the light grey specifically.

I have one even different than that, I thought it was faded, but now maybe not.

Yours look like the hotel unit ones....

Okay, I looked at mine again, and maybe it is just faded. It's like a dull dark gray, as compared to normal black...

Why not post a picture of it? You might actually have something that is different from the norm.

Pretty neat - I like the 2-tone with grey coloring. Where'd you grab these? Ebay or something?

No, I didn't use Ebay, Galford.

They came with a Neo-Geo system that I bought from Yuckydog back in early 2000. Do any of you remember Yucky?

Those are the first gen new style sticks. both old style and new style neo joysticks had a secondary version with very minor differences. They are worth abouth the same as the any other new style joystick. Thay are a bit more uncommon though.

I know those ones. I had one or a few back in Japan long ago. Never seen the light grey ones though. Quite a nice change to the sometimes monotonous black of NG hardware.

its been a while since ive seen one of those units, but i remember the joysticks looking different with the hotel units

Are you absolutely positive about your statement, Orph? I have been supporting the Neo-Geo for a very long time and I have never seen a gray Neo-Geo Pro stick for sale before. In fact, the seller who sold those joysticks to me never once mentioned their color -- he sold them both as standard Neo-Geo Pro Sticks (i.e. standard meaning the typical dark gray/ black).

i don't think i ever paid attention to the color of the joystick :loco:

even tho they may be rare, i wouldn't pay more for these types than the normal ones :mr_t:

I must have made out like a bandit then; I guess my joysticks are rare seeing how no one has actually seen them for sale before.

I remember Yuckydog. I bought several stuff from him and he bought my new SNES Pocky & Rocky 2

Wonder where is he now?

You're right. The hotel units I've seen came with those...
I have 10+ pro controllers, and one of them has the light
gray on it. Bought it from CKChan I think.

Those are Neo Geo MVS Hotel joysticks.

They are marked (which is obvious) with 1P & 2P stickers.

I purchased one of these hotel units from Francis & they were included. They are light gray as pictured.

I have never seen them anywhere else. You have a nice find on your hands NL! :buttrock:
