-What is likely fate on the collectors value of Metal Slug 5 home carts?

I am interested in hearing your thoughts and opinions on this question from two angles...(or more)....

1. The near future (1-2 years) going rate of aes Metal Slug 5's.

2.The long term collecters value of aes Metal Slug 5's.

Personally I think it will spike in value for a period upon selling out at the Neo Store, Then drop like most games do. However I do think it will drop at a slower rate than most games since it it one of the last games released on the platform.

Variables

Variables-

1. What if this title is released on the mainstream systems such as XBOX or PS2, a la Metal Slug 3?

Variable 2….

Most of us that have played part 5, seem to say it is one of best installments of the series, usually only 2nd to Metal Slug 3.

3. Emulation. Rather obvious, the increase in quality, availability and acceptance of free games via emulation will decrease the demand for our cart collections.

4. Mvs & Pcb?? Defiantly will be a dent in the Aes market.

Since METAL SLUG 5 is the "Last One" on the NEO Hardware (MVS/AES Format) it's possible that the AES cart itself might become a "Collector's Item" in the future, but I don't see it ever having the asking price of a METAL SLUG AES cart that's in the thousand dollar, sell your sister, mortgage off the house, BLING, BLING ball park. *At the end of the day Metal Slug 5 does a lot right, and it's got some of the most bitchin music this side of T's music's compositions for the RED shooters Gate of Thunder and Lords of Thunder, but it's not the entry that's a Cinderella 10 either.

...buy the game because you like teh SLUG games, not because it might have some major value attatched to it. **And the AES carts are beautiful indeed.

"1. Title is released on the mainstream systems such as XBOX or PS2, a la Metal Slug 3? This will likely decrease demand for aes copies of the game. Since many are content with the quality of releases like this."

No.

Example: Twinkle Star Sprites.

Ports: SAT, DC, NGCG

Decrease in demand for AES cart? No because it`s a collector`s item - contrast to the ports!

Same with Garou, Last Blades ... even Metal slug 1 - did the NGCD, PS and SAT ports bring it down in value? :eek_2:

I thought the.bet is Hamlet..........talking to himself all the time...

:smirk:

Anyway, personally I don't like Metal Slug 5. Played it last night and it's not that impressive. Only 5 levels and I just don't have the "old metal slug" feeling.

The end boss is totally a bullshit.

Is Metal Slug 5 be a collector's item in the future? I don't really think so. Look at KOF 2K (last game for Old SNK) and price is around $170 nowadays.

Some games will stay at its value but others wont'.

I pick up your sarcasm in addition to your lack of resources to make a investment such as this. But 2 cases at wholesale would earn you at least a free copy of the game and a few bucks for yourself if you could get just $300.00 each over the course of a few months supplying the Ebay crowed. Not bad imo.

Lithy i see your angle but its not like that. If I were to sell the game for $300.00 on ebay making around $21.00 dollars profit per unit for myself, the ebay crowed would be getting the game $49.00 dollars cheaper than most of us have gotten it. Plus I, a broke college age gamer, am able to afford an otherwise unafordable Game by investing my savings and running auctions for 4+ monthes to do this. In my eyes this makes geo gaming easier for some. Not everything is evil. I may not post much but I'm one of the good ones, I pay on time and don't bs about what I sell.. It's all about the games.

Wholesale as of early march

$279.00 + shipping

Retail

$349.00 + shipping

Its the American free market in action

You do the math

Before it simply sounded like you wanted to buy it, hoping that it will go up in price alot.

Which, with a NGH game, is stupid IMO. It's a game, not an investment.

every one raved about how good 3 was, so i picked one up, i bought 4 because i wanted it, and it was available brand new from neo store!

i'm gonna get 5 because i like slug!

i have no intention in selling my slugs, unless i need money!

There........end of story!

It just comes down to this....

If you want Metal SLug 5, you should buy it...

and if it becomes a "collectors item"

then that should be secondary.

If you've got the money - then I say do what you want. I think it's mostly going to be a mercy mission thing though - as there really aren't substantial profits to be made off of it at this point.

I don't think that buying 2 cases of MS5 would be a good investment personally. You'd make a few bucks, but the hassle probably wouldn't be worth it.

Anyways, if you wanna make some cash, then I'd say there are better ways to do it.

Please leave and move over to the stockmarket. Way more lucrative and comission usually costs less then shipping costs.

I suspect the value drop then rise and then drop and rise again, like the phoenix, and burn forever its beautiful image in our retinas.
